Typical Schedule of the CCers

So what's your daily routine? (Besides school) Do you get up super early or stay up late? Are you busy or not so much? I want to get an idea of what you guys do.

Hm… Well, in high school, my typical day after school included theatre rehearsals 2-3 hours, homework for a couple of hours, hanging out with friends for an hour, then more homework until i went to bed. Weekends included student government, tutoring at the local elementary school, holding meetings for Amnesty International, working on my research projects and independent studies, and going to performances.

Me now, in college, weekdays include school work for 4-5 hours a day (outside of class), working out, meals with friends. Weekends include light parties/gatherings, more school work and independent research, paper drafting, working out, jazz voice lessons and hanging out in NYC.

I get up at about 7-8, go to bed at 11-12… And I keep pretty busy, but now that I’m in college, I give myself a lot more leisure time. I definitely was on overdrive in high school. Then, I’d get up at around 8:30 and go to bed at around 2.

It really depends on the day but I’ll give you my schedule for the typical fall day during VB season.

Get up 5 am run 2 miles.
Get ready
Get to school at 7:30 for clubs and socializing
8:12 school…
3:10-3:30 More clubs
3:45-6:00 Varsity Volleyball (can last until 8 some if a game) we have games 3x a week
6:30-8:30 Play practice (I am alice in alice in wonderland)
8-10 Junior Olympic Volleyball (4x a week)
10 do homework

If I don’t have volleyball I usually have violin, city council, more theater, church council, bible study or something. I am booked 24/7

I get up at 6 and the bus comes 50 min. later. I get home from school a few minutes before 3 (assuming I have no ECs that day). I grab a snack and work on hw until 5. I usually have some free time so I go exercise for about an hour. My parents come home, eat dinner, study, finish hw and prepare for the next day. I’m usually in bed by 9:30. This is the ideal schedule, but most days I don’t get home til 8.

Wow @AlexHarper that’s crazy! I’m thinking about doing a 5am run routine.

@LydiaSofia What school do you go to in NYC, if you don’t mind me asking?

Not as bad at it sounds. Volleyball is like a stress reliever for me, so most of my day I’m having the time of my life.

And the run only takes about 15 minutes and it wakes you up! :)

My schedule used to be horrible in the school year, I was bad with procrastination. That’s why I wanted to see what successful people do :)

During marching band season:
about 6:15 - Get up
6:45 - Leave house for bus
7:05 - arrive to school for socialization/make-ups
7:30 - homeroom begins
2:26 - End of school
if Wednesday, Sectionals from 2:30 to 4:00
if Monday or Wednesday, practice from 5:45 to 9:00
if Friday, football games from about 5:00 to 9:30 or 10:00
if Saturday, competitions basically all day
I use the 4:00 to 5:45 slot to do homework on Wednesdays, usually. If not, I just do it when I get home after 9.

~10:30-11:00 - Wake up and make breakfast.
11:10 - Eat breakfast.
11:20 - Get on my PC and read the news/post on forums.
11:30 - Log into school (K12) and start working.
1:00 - Exercise for half an hour.
1:30 - Log back in and then work until 3:00.
3:00 - Golf.
6:30 - Get home, eat some fruit, and watch a bit of TV.
7:00 - Schoolwork until finished for the day (usually around 9-10).
10:00 - Eat dinner.
10:30 - Gaming/forums/news/whatever. (If done with school.)
~1:30-2:00 - Watch recorded TV shows.
3:00 - Sleep.

Repeat that. Replace golf with schoolwork/other ECs if the day is a Tuesday or Thursday.

@Nadizzle Sarah Lawrence College :)

All I’m going to say is that last year I included a nap in 80% of my afternoons. Best time of the day : D. In my defense, it promoted higher productivity afterwards.

Last year I was a freshman, and had a lot less ECs then I’m going to have this year.

The plan this year:
Wake up around 5, 5:30, take a shower (I have super thick curly hair so I have to wash and brush my hair every morning for it not to look terrible), dress, cook some breakfast, get coffee, maybe watch a little tv and walk to school at 6:55. Afterschool will be mostly student council stuff, babysitting, spending an 1-1.5 hours on homework regularly (last year I only spent 30 minutes on homework tops but I have some difficult APs going on so yeah) … Swimming or running , dinner, reading, beddy bye. Mostly save friends for the weekend and football/basketball games, and after school before I walk home.

Fall:
6am wake up
7:20am school
1:40pm clubs
3:00pm Home for hw and studying
11:00pm sleep

*if I have work on a school day: 3-6pm or 6-9pm

Spring:
6am wake up
7:20am school
1:40pm clubs
3:00pm track and field
5:00pm home for hw an studying
11:00pm sleep

*if I have a track meet: no practice at 3pm but meet at 5-8pm

Weekend:
Hangout with friends
Work at job (3-5hrs per day)
Volunteer (2-4 hrs per day sat and sun)

This year will be a little different. Starting Thursday (senior year starts tomorrow but my college classes don’t start until Thursday) :
Get up and get ready at 7:30
Leave for school at 8:45
2:40-3:30 clubs depending on the day
After that it’ll be homework until 5
5-6:15- college class on Tuesdays and Thursdays
6-9:15- college class on Wednesdays
All extra time is spent on homework, studying, sleeping, eating, etc.

6-Wake up and get ready
7:50-Leave for school
8:15-School
3-Usually some club (like newspaper, Key Club, Interact Club, etc.)
3:30-Cross country (spring track during the spring, nothing during the winter : p)
5:30-Get home, eat dinner, relax for a little
6:30-Begin homework
9-Finish up homework, watch some tv, do independent studies, or just relax
10-Do my reading for English (I never do that during the designated homework time)
11-Watch Conan
11:30-Sleep

This is drastically different when there’s projects or if I’m doing a play or musical during the time in which I’ll stay up as late as 2:30

This is for last year. Now I have a class 0 period so I’ll probably be getting up 30 minutes earlier.

Wake up at 6:30, eat, dress, bathroom, leave.
Get on bus at 7:00
Get to school at 7:45 (this year I have to be there at 7:30)
School starts at 8:20
Get out at 3:00 (Or 4:00 on Thursday and Friday for clubs)
Get home at 4:00.
Computer until like 6:00 xD
Homework and dinner until 7:30.
Computer until bed.
Bed at 10:00.

Yes, I go to bed at 10, regardless of what test I have the next day, any projects I didn’t finish, any homework, anything.

High School schedule:

Rigid portion:

720ish: eat breakfast, get ready, and walk to school by
800: School starts.
1400: School ends.
1400-1600 (Fall/Winter): Cross-country practice.

Non-rigid portion:

After either school or cross country — depending on the season — I’d walk home with a friend who lives nearby, and either watch a bad movie (a peculiar habit of ours… we liked to make fun of them) or play some xbox. Sometimes I’d invite some other people over. Usually this lasted until around six or seven (although sometimes until eight) when I’d cook myself some dinner or eat dinner with my mom. After that, I’d do homework and studying for a few hours, and then I’d read for fun before going to bed around 2300.

There were some volunteer things worked in there, and some weeks where I had out-of-town “business trips,” but for the most part, that was my schedule. On Tuesdays, for example, I’d bike after school up to this place where I helped plant and prune trees, and I’d get home at six, when I would invite some friends over and just cut the pleasure reading out of my schedule.
