haha, i love how this thread turned from complaining about cornell to defending it and the other Ivies (well, aparently except harvard lol) i have to say again how much i love Penn and this forum - the people here are so supportive of each other and even the other Ivies (though, agian, harvard seems to be the exception, and often princeton since, well, yea...princeton vs. penn...) i hope this board actually does reflect the general attitude of the people at Penn, though i admit it IS kinda funny to be looking at a school through the eyes of a forum lol ^_^

oh, and 26e - i'm surprised you ranked Columbia as 7!! i'm applying there RD (obviously not ED since that was for Penn lol) but i haven't visited or anything. care to clarify your opinion on Columbia??

That was a ranking of the students personalities (sounds silly, huh ;))

I really don't like columbia, just cuz its so "in". Even people in my school are drooling over columbia, even though they're not even applying (cuz they have no shot....to be fair.....8-10 droolers....1-3 with a shot). It's really annoying. I'd have thought about it, but they don't have gov't/polisci, so thats out. Anyway, I really hate it when people get all caught up in fads, and things that are "in". It seems preppy (no idea what that means, but from the way people use it it seems right). Anyway, no me like COLO. Same goes for Harvard. Both schools are living of "the cycle." Harvard has the "harvard" name, and columbia has upper manhattan. This drives up apps, which drives down acceptance, which drives up the ranking, which drives down the acceptance, which drives up the rankings again, which......u see. Drives me nuts.

I'm really quite friendly person. Really.

hahaha. i agree with you that i hate it when people get caught up in fads. but i'm not so sure what you mean by columbia being so "in." at my school, Penn is the number one Ivy to apply to this year, so i would've thought that people would consider penn "in." i dunno...lol, i'm confusing myself. forgive my slow brain.....

All the stuff I've read has said that Columbia is very in, cuz of its location. And no one in my school has heard of Penn except the val, who (thankfully) is not applying (Swarthmore). Everyone, though, is OBSESSED with colo. I dont like it.

i wish no one in my school had heard of Penn! way too many people applying this year!!!

I know....for some reason, FL seems to be a mini + rather than a mega -. with nobody applying from my school? awesome

lucky!!! hahaha chibiajiajin. how many ppl are applying now? like 9314592347518237412734? i'm just joking. good luck to all of u guys. i hope we all get into our #1 school.

26e, I have 15 people (including myself) applying to Penn ED out of 190 in our class. That's a lot, even for a competitive school. :( And yes, I'm from FL.

positive thinking guys!! positive thinking!!!!

mimisugar - check out the read my essay por favor thread - now there's some support ^_^

Wowo Freaked Out, I can't believe that many ppl from one school applying ED, I am the first person ever from my school to apply to Penn period. I was hoping that being from FL would work for a geographic advantage...

FreakedOut - i kno how you feel. 12 (including me) from my school, and this not counting anyone we might have missed. but then again, my class size is about 500, not 190.

jhum111, I think it depends what part of FL and what school you're at. I think that you have an advantage being from rural central FL. I'm not so sure that I'll standout from 14 other kids, since the adcoms compare you with other applicants from your school.

Edit: Yeah chibiajiajin, I'm wondering how many people I may have not counted! ;)

look at it this way guys. they are applying to penn but not all of them are applying to the same college right?! com'on ppl be a little positive here. we can all cry about it in a month. me and chibiajiajin already planned out a rejection day.

mimisugar, now let me direct you to the thread that says "2006 UPenn ED CC Statistics" it lists who's applying to which school

my school has definitely over 20 people applying ED to Penn this year, and I believe 12 of them, including me, are applying to Wharton. Considering that our college counseling office's Penn interview sheet has 35 spots (5 interviewers, 7 students for each), I think I may have missed a lot. FYI, my class has 300 people, of which more than 80 will find a spot at some ivy league school.

it's too depressing to look at those things. i'm still working on the whole positive thinking thing.

dude, ur not even applying to penn!! how can u get depressed over looking at the 25+ ppl i'm applyin against? weirdo..go eat a cookie or sumthing

be quiet u!! i know i'm not applying to penn, looking at smart ppl depresses me.
