U of A Honors College

Also, be sure to apply early -- say, at the end of August/beginning of September for the best chance at scholarships. You will probably know in October if you are admitted, and if you qualify for the honors college.

The Flinn scholarship is separate (google "Flinn Foundation" and you should find it).

my d is at the u of a in the honors college and she just finished her 2nd yr. She loves the school and has been in the honors dorms Kaibab-H and the San Pedero. There are honors classes they DO fill quickly. She is an out of state student. In 2003 she was top 5% of 700, ACT 30 gpa-uw 3.96/gpa-w 4.42. 2 APs with both scores of a 4. Received an in and out of state tution waiver.

How would that work....

Her bursar account is credited with the in state and out of state cost per semester. She still has to pay fees for the fitness center and add-ons but she uses just about everything they charge her for anyway. Every college has these fees.

Do you think that if I did apply around mid September that I would have a better shot at a scholarship? I want to be able to take an SAT II around October 9 and I can always send that in a little later. I also may take the ACT (next date I believe is September 24 or 26) again and do you think that if I score better than the first time and send it in after my application that I will still have a good chance?

All I know is that the GCs at my daughters' school tell all the students to apply by September to get the best in scholarship deals. I'm not sure if SAT IIs are even required for the U. of A. ... maybe they are ... but I don't know for sure.

My kids applied at the end of August and got their awards in the beginning of October. I don't know about sending scores later ... our kids were told to get tests out of the way beforehand. Maybe call or email the admissions office for the real scoop.

Good luck!

We were told to put in application ASAP by Sept. 15th. The earlier you apply the more they think you are interested in being a wildcat. You don't need SAT II for admission. My d applied Sept. got her Honors packet in October. In the first week of Feb. she received her letter of award to U of A. This letter came at the same time as her award letters from Tulane, Miami, Florida. She applied EA to all and got in at all, each gave her $$.

As to the ACT take them again if you need to, since they don't make scholarship awards til Feb, you can try to up your scores.

Remember we were out-of-state too.

thanks for your help!
