Hey guys I applied via regular decision to the umn twin cities. When should I expect an update from the college of Liberal Arts or College of Education and Human Development?
@ahndrxx It would depend on your stats (grades, gpa, act/sat, extracurriculars, essays) when you would hear an admissions decision. Would you mind sharing them?
Thanks for your reply!
Gpa: 3.0
Act: 28
extracurriculars: quiz bowl, model UN, volunteering, Minnesota Historical Society, other school activities.
I know I don’t have particularly stellar grades but I am a first generation student. I think something that really distinguished my application is that I am in a gifted mentorship program with a grad professor at the UMN to publish a report in my area of interest. He has written my letter of rec as well.
The tracker still says application complete, hence why I am asking if anyone has gotten an update
@ahndrxx Well, that is so cool that you have been able to work with one of the professors at the U! Now to answer your question, yes your GPA is on the low side, but you do have a hook and are first gen so that obviously will help. Your ACT score is right is the 50 percentile which is good. I can’t say when you would get an update to your tracker but it will usually switch to another statement, and then it will give you your admissions decision the next day. I believe it updates Friday to Saturday after midnight? Mine updated overnight and I saw my decision on a Saturday. And yes many people have gotten their decisions but also many are still waiting. So don’t worry too much there’s still plenty of time! Hope this helps!
Best of luck to you!
Thanks! Also congrats for getting into the U!
I know there’s quite a bit of time, but it is one of my top choice schools. Typically when the umn decides to defer/waitlist people do they consider your profile for your second college option as well? I would like to go to CLA, but also put CEHD as my second option just in case.
@ahndrxx Yes UMN considers both colleges for you. They always try to get you into your first choice and then second choice if possible.
