U Of M Question

To get to the point, I’m a junior and I’m not good at science or math. I’m not terrible; I managed A’s and B’s while all my other classes have been A and A-'s, including multiple AP’s for non-math related courses.

If I am applying for the LSA college with an intended major of Political Science, will admission officers look badly about B’s in math and science? Only happened a couple of times as well!

I have a good amount of extracurricular, my essays will be good, and teacher recommendations will also be good. Haven’t taken ACT yet.

Thanks

Your overall GPA will matter. If you were applying to engineering your math scores would be of more importance.

Do well on the Act or Sat and you will be fine. You want your essay to be great. Anyone can write a good one. #:-S

I was in the same boat. I took regular math and science (always managed a low A/high B) so I knew it was a long shot, but I played to my strengths on the application, put forward some awesome supplements and was accepted early. You are definitely not out of the running. They want to see an arc in your app and a connection across the different components; if you’re not interested in studying math and science, but you are interested in something humanities and are a great writer with strong non-STEM grades, ECs, standardized tests, and SHOW INTEREST, they can be forgiving.
