I have been accepted to all the above for business/ finance with merit scholarships except still waiting to hear from Michigan as preferred admit and fin aid, but I am in LSA. I am an OSS. Wondering I could get some help ranking schools. And what thoughts are if I don’t get in PA, which is very competitive, to Michigan about going and trying to apply to Ross after freshman year. I am ultimately interested in working in the financial industry preferably in NYC.
Go to Michigan, work hard, and get into Ross. If you want finance, you might as well get used to it.
So no preferred admit to Ross. Still struggling with my choice. I know I want to study business. I have been very active in DECA and FBLA , even going to Nationals, and have taken every business class at my hs. Seems like maybe I should take a direct admit to one of the above business schools and get started. Feels like a huge risk to be an OSS and pay tuition and transition to college and have a high gpa and join business orgs and make new friends and still only have a 40% chance of Ross admit. Any thoughts are appreciated.
You need a high GPA to get a job in finance. If you cannot achieve a 3.7 gpa in your freshman year, you are probably not finance material, no matter where you attend school. Ross is a class (or two) above those other business programs. It is a three year program. If I were you, I would go to Michigan and try hard for Ross. If it doesn’t work out, stay through your sophomore year and reapply to a two year business program. That is of course if you decide you still want that business degree.
Thank you for interest in helping me to try to narrow my choices. I think I have narrowed my choice to Fordham and the U of Michigan. Part of my decision is based on being near family in NY and direct admit to business school with NY opportunities close by. I know they are vastly different schools but any opinions on the academics offered at both would be appreciated.
