U of R Class of 2022 Early decision Discussion

I’m an international student. I know we’ll get an email not sure about mail.
It’s been so long already, I don’t get why they don’t give aid statements with the acceptance letter

Thanks. Do you know if it will be in the mail or on Myroc? Also, did you know that UofR now has an acceptance rate of 25% this year?! They were choosing 1 out of every 4 applicants which translate to 25%

Exactly, I don’t understand why either.

You receive an email from the financial aid office which includes your student ID number and a link. You will then make an account with this ID number and thats where you will be receiving your financial aid information in the future. Also you will receive your acceptance letter in mail (I received mine like 2 weeks after the email. I was EDI)

How long after your acceptance were you notified of merit aid? I got accepted on January 18th, and I’ve just received my acceptance letter and welcome packet in the mail on Saturday. When would I hear about merit?

@Happy99 isn’t the enrollment deposit added to our student account when we enroll? Can you kindly inform me how to request a waiver for the deposit?

If you are required to participate in ECO, the enrollment deposit is added towards your student account because you wouldn’t be able to work over the summer.

Inquired about the aid statement again. The University now informed me that we should receive information about merit scholarships (if any) in 7-10 business days from the date of our acceptance letter, and then we will be notified about our financial aid package about 2 weeks after.
That’s so long. The aid statement will arrive close to 15th Feb then. The reply date should be pushed back.

Don’t know why they wrote financial information should arrive soon in the acceptance letter xD a month isn’t soon

Can any international applicant who received their financial packages in ED-I kindly inform me what percentage of the package were loans and how different the aid value that they concluded was compared to the EFC that you wrote?

@Noob99. I received merit aid on 28th of Dec, 13 days after I received admission and my full financial aid package came 2 days later on 2nd of Jan.
About loans, international students are not eligible for loans, so no loans will be in your aid package. Just grants, scholarships and work-study.

@RocURworld Thank you for the reply. Was any summer income expectation part of the package?

@Noob99. No summer income expectation. The only thing closest to that is the work-study program, where you work to pay for personal expenses not covered by scholarships and grants. But your parents can opt to pay if they have the money and you don’t want to work. But the amount is not much though and you really don’t have to pay because your personal expenses might not even reach their estimates. Just try to avoid unnecessary spending.

@RocURworld Thank you alot for the information.

Has anyone who got accepted through ED2 gotten any notification of merit scholarships yet?
I got my letter on 18th Jan and still no word, so I probably didn’t qualify for any

Did you do any interview? @Happy99

@Noob99 I was accepted through ED II but I found out on December 15. Call the financial aid office to make sure everything was turn in because my merit scholarship came with financial aid package but it took longer for me.

I was accepted ED II Jan 18th. I was told that I will be getting merit scholarship I’m still waiting for mine. Havent received any financial aid yet either

@lxndrbrks99 Were you told that you will be receiving one in the acceptance letter?
