These are basically the three schools I'm looking at for psych. I'm sort of confused on how exactly to decide.

U of R:
I really like the open curriculum and the feel of the school and the campus
However, they gave me the least financial aid.

F&M:
I'm probably going to visit in the coming weeks, I was selected for the Marshall Scholarship, so I get a nice chunk of aid.

Syracuse:
I was able to get into dual arts and sciences and newhouse with nice financial aid. However, I'm not sure about the location.

Any advice?

ok-- I have seen both of them and was strongly leaning b/t F&M and U of R, as well as Wake Forest. Here are the pros/cons of F&M and U of R (this only represents my own opinion, so consider it as such):

F&M
pros-- only 45 minutes from where I live, 2 cousins went there so it's well-respected in my family, small campus w/ a lot of facutly interaction, very similar to the school environment I am currently in so it wouldn't be a huge adjustment, I would easily have gotten in

cons-- the people are snobby, the people are unfriendly (which may go along w/ snobby-- they did not smile back when I smiled at them), I actually began to tremble for fear of spending 4 years of my life in a place like that (could have been slightly due to the cold, but I'm thinking I was fearful for my intellectual/emotional growth :) )

U of R
pros-- amazing people-- intellectual yet fun, nice vibe of the campus, a lot of research opportunities

cons-- far from home (6 hours at least by car), weather leaves much to be desired, I was boarderline for getting in

Well, I weighed my options and realized that in college the students will basically be my family, and I really didn't want to be a part of F&M's. I went ED to Rochester, as I felt 100% certain that I would be making the right decision if admitted. I actually had decided I wouldn't even be going to F&M if I was denied-- I would have checked out Case Western and really liked MUhlenberg, so it would have been one of them.

Accepted ED to Rochester-- can't wait for fall! :)

oh-- and syracuse--

didn't make my top 3-- wouldn't have even applied there, though 3 of my very good friends did...

cons-- city atmosphere, though i guess it is kind of an enclosed campus, partying is much too important, not intellecutal vibe at all, weather is something I'd be willing to deal with only in Rochester's case...

no pros for me :)

Well, all I can tell you is that my son goes to F and M, and can't imagine being anywhere else. He is totally happy there. He likes the professors and the kids, and is very happy he applied early and was accepted.
