Hi, I applied to both the University of Rochester and the Boston University, and I haven't gotten a reply from them just yet; however, I did get accepted into the University of Washington, so I'm pretty confident I'll be accepted into Boston University. Unfortunately, I'm DESPERATELY searching for some help to decide which university I should attend supposing that I'll be accepted into both. I haven't visited the schools yet, but I am planning to go there during my Spring Break.

I'm not really interested in going to the UW because I want to go to a school out-of-state.

The reasons I like about Rochester:
- Very small (3k students)
- Has an archery club (I REALLY want to do archery in college)
- Has a beautiful campus (from what I hear)

The reasons I like about Boston:
- Located within a big city
- Great school spirit! (One of the best hockey teams out there)
- I hear their academic quality is pretty high
- Has a good English program

The reasons I DON'T like about Rochester:
- A very boring city
- Not very school-spirited

The reaasons I DON'T like about Boston:
- Big school (20k students)
- No archery club

Believe it or not, Rochester is a pretty interesting city. Smaller scale than Boston but it has good restaurants, professional theater, concerts, great classical music scene, movies, clubs, parks, museums. What are you looking for?

Well, I’m not entirely sure. And I found out I missed their FAFSA/CSS Profile deadline (rochester), too. Ugh. I’m such an idiot.

Well, I’m looking for more of an “open” life, where I can start everything anew and refreshed. I want to do lots of clubs and extracurricular activities (archery, golf, kendo, ACC club, orchestra, etc.).

In high school, I didn’t really have a life, so I’m looking forward to one in college. I’m looking for something more vibrant! But then, at the same time, I’m afraid that Boston U won’t let me get into a good graduate school. The national ranking for Boston U is lower than that of University of Washington, and I already got into UW. ):

U of Rochester is an excellent university and there is a contingent of students from the Pacific Northwest whom love it. You get an intellectual “east coast vibe” without being overwhelmed by it, as you might be in New York City, or perhaps even in Boston. The physical appearance of the campuses of UR and BU couldn’t be more different, so talk to current students at both to get an accurate impression. There are good reasons to attend either school, so you’ll need to determine what appeals to you.
