U Pitt Binding?

Hey guys, so I just got accepted into the University of Pittsburgh and they sent me a video saying “welcome to your new home”. Everything in the video made it seem like I was definitely attending Pitt, but I was 100% sure that Pitt is rolling decision and not binding. It is definitely one of my top choices, but I wanted to explore other options, so am I just understanding it wrong, or is it actually binding?

I believe Pitt is rolling admissions which is not binding. If you did not sign an early decision binding agreement then the offer should not be binding. If you have any concerns/questions about the admittance I suggest you contact the school’s admission department directly or check with your guidance counselor. I expect that the video was just being hopeful that you will attend.

And congratulations!

If you, your parent and your guidance counselor did not sign an ED contract it is not a binding ED arrangement.

Of course the school sent you videos and such as if you are definitely attending. If you asked a date to the winter prom would you then be continuing to say things like “this is where I plan to take you to dinner first unless you change your mind and go to the dance with someone else?” They are no longer wooing you because you applied and they have accepted you. Unless and until they hear otherwise they will assume you are attending.

But you have the right to continue applying elsewhere. Just let them know if and when you commit to another school.

Okay thank you! I didn’t sign any ED waivers or anything and I was just confused on the wording of the video.

Once admitted, colleges will do lots of things to get you to say yes!

Pitt is definitely not binding. My DD was just accepted a few weeks ago and she got the same video. BTW we loved Pitt.

@smokinact I loved it too! Loved the atmosphere and the programs! One of my favorites.
