I’m a U.S. citizen raised in Indonesia and China and my parents are looking to send me to Germany for University and they want me to take Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering, I originally want to take Business but since they don’t allow me to, I decided to take Business in the U.S. for my Masters, preferably in top school like Harvard or Yale. Is this a bad idea? Will I have a lower chance of being accepted to them if I have my Bachelors in Business?
You do not need to study business as an undergrad if you plan to get your MBA later. What you will need to have is at least two (preferably four or more) years of increasingly responsible professional experience, excellent academic and work references, excellent undergraduate grades, and excellent scores on the GMAT.
Where do you want to work after you finish your undergrad degree? If you want to work in the US between college and grad school, it would be better to study here. If you want to work in Europe, then study there.
