Between Merrill Lynch and UBS which is the stronger investment bank when it comes to foreign exchange and foreign exchange derivatives trading? Can someone help answer this question, please? Thanks.

I don’t know the answer (which means I should not be posting here at all, but anyway…)

Back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, and I roamed Wall Street, the big multinational commercial banks (like UBS) were generally stronger than the investment banks/ securities firms in currency trading. Certainly stronger than mine anyway, and stronger than most of them certainly, I don’t know about ML specifically.

The financial world, and the firms themselves, are so different now that this does not answer your question, just a little historical perspective, which is all I have.

You can probably find league tables showing the leading firms by various metrics in specific areas like Currency Trading. This looks like one, I can’t actually see their results though:

They’re both pretty good desks in FX Derivs that I compete with.

You can’t really refer to Merrill Lynch as its own entity. Bank of America Merrill Lynch

Yes you can, there are quite a few ex-Merrill entities that didnt adopt the BAML name. For instance, Merrill Lynch’s commodities arm is still named Merrill Lynch Commodities Inc. Trust me, there are a lot of legacy Merrill people who would tell you they work for Merrill Lynch as opposed to Bank of America Merill Lynch. It comes from the “Merrill Lynch is better than lowly bank of america mentality”

Despite being subsidiaries of Bank of America? They all still work for B of A.

Actually we do refer to their desk as ML.

UBS has been doing terribly the last few years. They’re basically the worst BB right now, go with BAML

I’d say ML as well.

UBS told me that they have extremely competitive salaries. BOAML straight up told me that out of my cohort half were gonna get dropped so the others can get their dough. Although now that I look at the time stamp, I may have written this too late, the OP may have already been fired…
