UC Admissions Changes for Fall 2020 due to Covid-19

UC admissions has made some changes to their admissions policies for both freshman and transfer students due to the coronavirus situation. I have included the link for all of the information directly from UC admissions, but I thought I would share it here for any other UC transfers who are curious about things like pass/no pass credits, etc.

Pass/No Pass: UC has temporarily gotten rid of the 14 semester/21 unit limit for pass/no pass credits taken in winter/spring/summer 2020 since many colleges are switching to pass/no pass or credit/no credit grading right now. However, whether or not pass/no pass credits will be counted for major requirements is still up to the individual campuses. It does say that they will be as flexible as possible.

Cancelled Spring Courses: They also state that if you were planning to take a class in spring term but it was cancelled, they will allow you to take the course in summer instead as long as you still meet the minimum admissions requirements for UC transfers (60 semester/90 quarter units completed, 7-course pattern, and 2.4 GPA).

SIR and Transcript Deadlines: They will not be changing the SIR deadline from June 1st, but they may accommodate individual requests from students who need more time to be able to pay the deposit fee. Also, they still want you to submit your transcripts by July 1st if possible, but admissions offers will not be rescinded if you miss the transcript submission deadline.

what if we get a C in major course in Spring

I’m gonna be so upset if this is UC’s April Fool’s Joke

Will the UC’s rescind anyone this year? They said they wouldn’t if you missed commitment/transcripts deadlines. Is it possible I can still be rescinded?

This entire Pass/ credit thing is confusing. Let’s say I get a B in a class and the rest of my grades are A’s, if I choose for that course to be a pass for credit so it doesn’t affect my GPA, how does this affect UCLA looking at that course coming from a transfer?

I am on the same boat as @inb4Gav. If we do change to pass or no pass does that affect our chances of getting in? The pass/no pass is very confusing.

I wouldn’t P a B grade. Grad schools usually calculate Ps as a C. You’re GPA doesn’t transfer with you to a UC. Just keep the B.
