Are my chances getting into a UC (Davis/Irvine/San Diego) totally ruined by a first semester 'C' in math analysis first semester junior year? The rest of my grades are good (mostly As). I know that there's a lot more to admissions than just grades, but does getting that C significantly decrease my odds at getting accepted?

Thanks.

No… people get into UCLA with C’s in Pre-Calc junior year from my school…

Well, SD uses a point system, so depending on how much that C affected your GPA, it could affect your overall admissions chance. If all your other grades are stellar, that C will basically do nothing, so don’t worry too much. Moreover, if you do a lot of other things (good extracurriculars, hold jobs etc), they will make up for the grade and you will still have a great chance in getting into all those schools.

And I can confirm Gryffon’s statement–people do get C’s and still make it to UCLA and Berkeley.

Totally ruined? No, you can still definitely get in
Not as great if you were to have gotten an A? definitely.
