UC app update question

Is the question "Have you satisfied the Entry Level Writing Requirement?" applicable to community college students?

I said yes, but now you're making me doubt myself, hahaha. Oh wait, that doesn't answer the question. ;;

I believe you have to fulfill the requirement regardless of the "type" of school. If my memory isn't failing me, I think it's supposed to a graduation requirement. There should be a link of some sort next to the question that contains information regarding how to satisfy the requirement.

I think there is a little question mark clicky right there (at the question you're talking about) you can click on that will explain it in more detail.

edward, the question mark does not explain anything. All it says is that it is a university requirement and should have been completed either by taking the course or by AP credit. However, im not sure if this requirement is only for UC to UC transfer or for CC students.

I think it'd be pretty strange if the application catered only to UC to UC transfers, but that's speculation's probably not enough to assuage your worries. I imagine that any and every applicant has to satisfy this requirement . Another link to look at: University of California - Admissions

Here, I went back and looked. In my case, since I completed a three semester unit English Comp class at my CCC in Fall 07 with a C or above, then I meet this requirement according to #4. Therefore I clicked "yes" when answering the question.

This is what it actually says:

As a University undergraduate, you must demonstrate proficiency in writing. You may meet this requirement, known as Entry Level Writing requirement, in any of the following ways:

Score a 3 or higher on the College Board Advanced Placement Examination in English (Language or Literature).

Score a 5 or higher on the International Baccalaureate Higher Level Examination in English (Language A only).

Score 680 or higher on the SAT II: Writing Subject Test.

Complete with a grade of C or better an acceptable college course in English composition worth four quarter or three semester units.

Achieve a passing score on the University's writing proficiency examination, called the Analytical Writing Placement Exam.

Complete an appropriate English course at the University.

thanks for all of the responses; im just going to put yes lol.
