Is anyone else besides me appealing to UCs that rejected them? I sent my appeal in on Monday to Berkeley, the only UC I applied to. I'm so anxious to find out if they're going to change their decision!

If there are any successful appeals, would you mind sharing your story and/or the gist of what you wrote in your appeal?

Your appeal for admission has been received and is under review. Please check this site regularly for a reply. We will do our best to post a decision by June 1st.

Bottom line is, come up with something substantial and NEW for your appeal (new recommendation letter, something you forgot to include the first time, etc.) or else you're probably SOL.

Well, I wrote more in depth about why I want to study what I want to study there, which is a major that my school doesn't have. I explained exactly how I plan on applying what I'm going to learn to what I want to do later, and I went into the specifics of the emphasis I want to do within the major, and also the professors I'm really interested in studying with. And I also mentioned a new leadership role I recently was appointed to at my current school. So... do you think that will be considered substantial enough?

I disagree I think your new leadership coupled with you reinforced statement of attending ucb will be enough to get you in, in my opinion. Good luck blue, hope for the best.

Just to be clear, I wasn't commenting on the merit of his appeal, just pointing out that since roughly 1 in 20 appeals are granted, it's a long shot.

After careful re-evaluation of your application, we regret that we are unable to grant your appeal for admission. Unfortunately, enrollment spaces for fall 2005 are extremely limited at this time. We wish you the best in your future college plans.

What if I told them I was willing to enter in the Spring???

If berekeley is where you really want to be then yes ofcourse its worth a shot. You are right they didnt mention spring and If you were able to tell them that youd be willing to defer your admission for the spring then Im sure you have a shot. Go for it, because in the end you'll never know if you would have gotten in and you have nothing to lose. I cant believe your appeal for fall didnt go through though that sucks. Good luck getting in the spring. Appeal, Appeal Appeal though I had a friend who got in to UCLA after his 4th appeal so there is hope just dont give up because they will see you as persistent and dedidcated.

Just curious, exbruin, how do you appeal multiple times? I figured they give you one extra chance and that's it. I suppose if you decided to stage a protest outside of their admissions office, they'd be forced to let you in though :)

You gave it an honest shot, but my goodness.....let it go! They said no once, why put yourself through it again....I mean, there's always Grad School, right? :P
