UC Application 2012 Thread

@UCkittychen: Am supposed to create an account for this if I wasn’t notified to do so?

can you only SIR to one school? or are we supposed to do it for all of the ones were accepted to?

you can submit an SIR to as many schools as you want. just note that you wont be getting the fee back if you decide not to go there

in other words you are SUPPOSED to submit an SIR only to the school you actually intend to enroll at

^^^ +1

10 char

Oh wait. When they say SIR, they just mean to click the button that says “accept/deny” right? That’s what it says on the CSU portal sites, they just have a button to click. Maybe there’s more stuff to do after you click the button but I haven’t accepted or denied any of the CSU admissions yet.

if you wait too long to SIR can your admission be revoked?

^ Yes, there is a deadline you need to SIR by (each school will provide it to you).

I double checked and found other threads that say you’re only supposed to SIR to one school and if you get caught SIRing to two schools you will be rescinded from both?

this is from UCR:
You may only submit one Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) to a University of California (UC) Campus.
If you have been admitted to more than one UC Campus, choose your one campus carefully.

You guys are giving bad information.

You can only have one SIR active at a time. But, you can back out of the SIR and then SIR somewhere else (you lose the $100 fee). So, you can’t SIR to two schools at the same time (I don’t know why you would want to). For instance, if you were accepted to UCSB and waitlisted at UCI, you could SIR to UCSB and opt in on the waitlist at Irvine. If you were accepted off the waitlist and wanted to go to Irvine over SB, you would then revoke the SIR at SB, lose your $100 (I don’t know how that works with fee waiver), and SIR to Irvine. You would want to SIR to SB in the case you were not accepted off of the Irvine waitlist and it was past the SIR deadline at SB. I don’t know why else you would submit two SIR’s.

oh okay thanks :)

I was about to SIR to UCR as a backup, and then that warning came up so I didn’t. thanks for clearing that up I guess I’ll wait for more decisions to come out before I do SIR

^^ and sorry for saying you gave bad information I’m just worried i’m going to wait too long and my admission will be revoked thanks tho

@ uchappytrain: I doubt they would revoke your admission for no reason. As long as you SIR to your school of choice by the deadline that they give you. I’m a little worried though because I have to SIR by May 1st for SFSU and UCLA and Cal decisions don’t start until late April. If I don’t get into LA, Irvine or SD than I’m going to SFSU.

so if i get accepted to ucr, uci, and ucd…and want to attend ucd, am I required to decline the sir for ucr and uci? or can i just simply ignore them?

really guys, i know you guys are smarter than all these SIR questions. I love all of you but c’mon. Only SIR to the school you want to, for numerous reasons…

I’m just curious if we are required to decline the SIRs for the schools we don’t plan on attending…or can we simply just ignore them?

Ignore them. You only SIR to a school when you are certain you will go there.

However, circumstance like being waitlisted for your 1st school but being accepted into your 2nd choice of school and the deadline to SIR is about to come. Then you can SIR to your 2nd school and once you got your notification if you got accepted to your 1st choice then you can withdraw your SIR from your 2nd choice and apply it to your 1st.

SIR is pretty much telling the school “Hey, here is my notification that I WILL be attending your school”.

ok so when i take a look at the sir form for ucr, there’s either accept or decline SIR. if i plan on going to UCD instead, am I REQUIRED to decline the SIR from UCR? or can I just simply ignore it?

thanks as always

Omg you asked the same questions 3 times. Youve been told to ignore them. Are you going to ask the same question for the 4th time?
