I help a woman crossing the street, be the ball-boy for the school’s tennis team, assist a girl in doing basic arithmetic, and last but not least, I cure cancer!

I’m in at Cal. Hell, even Harvard would take me.

Just kidding, lol. Anything is fine, including stuff from HS. But they will seriously consider stuff you did in CC for a borderline applicant. Just put down some sort of common activities, say, as a CS major, designing and maintaining websites, add-on for computer games, computer club, etc. :)

On my achievements, I put that I was able to make Chuck Norris cry.

You are indeed lawl-king
Speaking of Chuck Norris, https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/293454_298368906843288_100000105420561_1309234_153187497_n.jpg

@sparkyboy

you started to make me nervous. I’m also applying as LSCS major, but i didn’t put EC’s that are related to my major. goooshhhhhhh

Submitted! This is a strange feeling, isn’t it? You’re relieved that you’ve dropped the aniexty of working on the application, but now you’re getting anxious about waiting for April 2012. These are going to be a long couple of months… good luck to everybody!

^Completely agree! This is an exciting time in our lives.

Just submitted and it feels so good to not have had to scramble at 11:50pm tomorrow. I am slightly worried about leaving the third optional essay box empty, but hopefully my other essays and overall application will be strong enough without it.

Good luck and godspeed, y’all.

@happyaray: If I recall, you have a 4.0 right? Worry not, my friend. That alone is enough for them to overlook EC’s. Again, EC’s are only for borderline applicants.

I hope to see you at Cal this time next year, assuming we both get in lol. Good luck :)

do i need to become a full time student next semester? i plan to take only 10 units because i will have 60 units by then

^^ @stevololpb18 No worry. Same here, I’m going to take only 7 units. As long as you’ve already finished the pre-reqs. No big deal

@sparkyboy

phew… ok… (deep breathe)
thanks buddy! I’ll see you next Fall in Cal
btw, what other schools did u apply?

which schools send paper decisions/phone calls/emails?

Hey guys

Under “Colleges Attended” I put my CC and the dates 06/2010 - 05/2012 (when I expect to graduate)

but under “Degree/Cert & Date” I didn’t put anything because I don’t have my degree yet… should I have put the date I expect to get my degree??? !!

^I didn’t put anything for that because i’m not planning on graduating from my cc, just transfer so the latter box had IGETC, which I checked off. If you’re not graduating I assume you leave it blank

Well I am getting my AA so I guess I should have filled it out. Damn. Anyone know how to fix these things?

What the UC system should do next year is have their regular deadline, then open up applications again, saying “You have an extra day! Now go back and correct any mistakes you found!”

Stop worrying people, I know this applications is our future, but that doesn’t necessarily mean a simple mistake like not listing your AA/graduation date or forget a period at the end of your PS is going to jeopardize your chance. Murphy’s Law doesn’t apply here…

What you need to ensure 100% accuracy is your class listing, EVERY SINGLE DAMN one that you took, both transferable and non-transferable. Beside that, there’s nothing on this application that can really hurt you. Also, you are not held responsible for planned courses (aka courses in Winter/Spring 2012). You will be able to update your Fall grades and Spring courses comes early January.

And to those that lie about EC’s, congrats, they don’t check, lol. But you should not make that a habit. And again, EC’s are only for borderline applicants, said counselor Omar Ramirez at Berkeley

I’m just sharing my 2 cents, don’t quote anything.
[/end rant]

I was wondering if a CSU course could satisfy an IGETC requirement. My situation is this: In my first quarter of college, I attended Cal Poly SLO. I majored in Earth Science and they set me on the track–already assigning me into my major classes. I got assigned to ERSC144 ERSC110 SS121 and GEOG250. I want to use GEOG250(Physical Geography) as the IGETC requirement for Physical Science. It is the exact same course, but since it’s coming from a CSU I’m not sure if it will be eligible. Do you know the answer to this question? whether or not it could be eligible to satisfy the IGETC requirement or not? Furthermore, could it be transferrable for UC credit as well?

@kitty: All will send by webs and normal US mails. More details: http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/counselors/files/ETS11_NextStepsMatrix.pdf

@happy_array: Cal, LA, SD, and screw-job Santa Cruz lol
hope to get into Cal and see you there!

@Tall: you have to check with each individual campus you applied to. Google “UCxx + transfer counselor” and email them. Some courses will be transferable, some won’t. For IGETC, check with the counselor at your CC. Have the syllabus/syllabi ready, and ask them to evaluate it. My friends did so, and 3 out of 4 courses he took at San Jose State (Writing 1, Calc1, US History I) were used for both IGETC and major requirements at UC.

Again, you will have to check 2 times, one with your CC counselor, the other at the UC’s you applied to, to make sure the course satisfies both. This process varies from campus to campus, so I can’t have an exact answer for you. Gl

thanks i appreciated it. i just spam mailed like 6 counselors the same message basically. i feel sorry for them. i hope my question gets answered though hahaha. goodnight CC.
