UC Application/IGETC Question?

Guess I'll add my question here.

What if I am applying next year (Nov 09) for the Fall 10 semester/quarter ,
Can I take Summer 09 Classes for IGETC?

yes of course, it would be the summer BEFORE you apply in November so it will be fine. I also recommend taking at least 1 summer course because it can save you money so that you don't have to take an extra class at a UC and pay hundreds instead of like 60 and it will also go towards your IGETC and can even be one of your major pre-req's if you want.

so UCLA wont take credits taken the summer before transferring? because i'm gona be done with the IGETC this spring 09 but i still have to get a couple units that are UC transfearable to be at a junior stand

"so UCLA wont take credits taken the summer before transferring?"

I've heard that only UCLA and CAL do not accept summer credits the semester before you transfer. They'll accept major pre-reqs and igetc but not the credits. I'd still check with a counselor on that though.

medusa-ok thanks,please let me know

I just called their phone adviser today (talked to Renee), I told her I need one more class in Area 3, but she said I don’t need to complete the IGETC. I wonder why no one in this thread mentions it… if you have doubts, it might be a good idea to call the university and talk to their advisers.

@adrian - Not sure what you mean by “don’t need to complete the IGETC”. You don’t need to to be admitted, but then that means you may need to take lower division coursework at a UC. My counselor told me that not completing it generally adds an extra quarter in work after transfer.

SO i completed an 8 week course a few weeks ago and received an A. My question is, can i change the “in progress” tab, to the grade i received, on my application now for this class, even though all my other classes will still be “in progress” at the time i turn in my application??? thanks!

also, they do not offer TAP at my cc, is this totally gonna screw my chances into getting into UCLA or UCB???
