I have gotten advice from my family to fill out one UC application to one school now and then wait a month and send another one to multiple schools. Can someone expand on why this method is beneficial and if it is indeed the plan I should follow? (I am currently a high school senior applying for fall 2016)
What do they say it’s benefits are?
The application is the same for all the UC’s so I don’t see what they trying to accomplish. And you want to work on those essays so why rush submitting one now?
Work on the app and when it’s polished submit to all the campuses you want to apply to. I don’t see any reason for the plan your family is proposing.
Why??? Agree with @ClaremontMom that you should submit your application when finished. There is no benefit in sending your application to 1 school early since the UC’s only have RD. They will not even look at your application until after the November 30 deadline.
I don’t know if you can do that. Are you saying they create essentially two applications? The essays probably are different? Is that the reason?
Application to the UC system are only accepted from November 1, until November 30th each year.
Although the applications opened for registration yesterday (August 1) for any of the UC’s, there’s no possibility - let alone advantage - to submitting earlier.
Good point @hop! I forgot about that!
(I’m still curious to hear that family’s reasoning…)
