<p>I will be applying to a variety of UC's this fall and I was wondering if I need to write a separate pair of essays for each school I apply to, or just one set that is sent out to all schools? I can't imagine that this is the case, as all schools are different, but either way can someone clue me in as to how this system works? The website does not seem to make it perfectly clear.</p>

<p>To my understanding you fill out one application. On that application it asks you which schools you wish to send it out to.</p>

<p>oh wow that’s kind of weird. For example, if I want to apply to berkeley’s electrical engineering/computer science program, I have to give them the essay I would write for a similar program at another school. However, other UC’s don’t offer EECS, just computer engineering or computer science and engineering. So this means that I need to have some really general essays? (originally I planned on including a sentence or two on why I would like to attend a particular school)</p>
<p>Is it unheard of to send in different applications?</p>
<p>Why would you? It’s 45 seconds on average per essay. Even if you could, they would never know and would never hold it against you. They have neither the time nor the staff to.</p>
<p>The prompt doesn’t really pull for stuff about your major. It’s more about how you became who you are.</p>
