UC Applications Awards

On the UC app there is a section along the lines of "Awards/Honors." I was wondering what you transfer students--that were accepted into a UC-- put down for your awards. Were they mainly highschool awards, or from community college? I'm just trying to get an idea of what's out there.

Please post your awards and what UCs you were accepted into.

im interested in this also . .

x. Won a national high school chess championship
x. National Merit Semifinalist
x. Other chess-related stuff- Northern California grade level champion, etc.

i left that part blank and i got into Berkeley, LA, and SD.

It’s not very important, actually.

i wrote awards from highschool and cc such as deans honors list, etc.

Academic Decathlon Team Captain and some other stuff.

I used scholarships, presidents list, and honors society membership.

Left mine blank and got into UCLA and Cal.

Basically, if you’re questioning whether something counts as a worthy award, it probably doesn’t.

For me, any awards based solely on GPA seemed pointless to post because admissions can see your GPA anyway, and I probably wouldn’t have put a lot of the things people are posting here in that category. There’s a separate section for leadership roles and club involvement . . .
