There were some pretty funny lines in that song. :o3

Those are my stats that I posted before. I have a new problem. I am an international student, and I did A-levels (British curriculum). When I filled out my Transfer Admission Planner, the planner allocated 32 units for my A-level subjects (8 units each). By the end of Spring 2016 I will have completed 54 units in my CC. And if I add the units from my A-level exams it will be 86 units. I talked to UCLA and UCB admissions offices and they said they will grant elective credit for A-level exams. However I have taken some courses (bio, chemistry, math, history) at my CC that I feel would overlap with my A-level exams. Even though the classes at my CC were way easier than the A-level exams. I feel that the UC’s might consider them to be similar and therefore grant credit for my CC classes putting me below the 60 unit cap needed for transferring.
Do you guys think this will affect my transfer eligibility and put me at a disadvantage? Cause I’ve heard similar stories with student who have AP credits. Or am I just thinking too deep into this?
Oh btw, I would have stayed at my CC for 1-1/2 by Spring 2016. So am I considered as a 1 year transfer?
Only the UCs can tell you the answer. But are you saying all 32 units are duplicates? All you need are six more units.
@jonuni94 Hope we can meet at Berkeley next year! Though I am not a lakers fan, I am a big fan of Kobe Bryant! Since my college is in the quarter system, Berkeley requires us to take Calculus courses which are equivalent to 2 semesters. So I will have to complete 3 quarters of calculus.
@pgkb24 Ahh I see, I’m hoping he makes a big comeback his final year. Gl on your Calc courses and also hope we can meet at Berkeley next year! See you around on this thread for now!
Ayo. Figured I would just add to the list of people posting their stats.
Intended Major: Psychology
IGETC: Done except for the language requirement. I’m debating whether to just take introductory Spanish rather than send in my high school transcripts.
Major Prereqs: Will be done by the end of Spring '16.
Units by Fall 2016: 90 (I’m a double major, so the credit excess is because of that)
GPA: 3.81
Major GPA: 4.0
EC’s: President of Alpha Gamma Sigma Honor Society, member of the school’s honors program, member (and possibly soon-to-be-president) of Phi Theta Kappa, student ambassador, and have volunteered in the past with the county library. Honestly, I think I should be doing more, but I have no idea as to what.
Also, does anyone know what assist.org year we should be following? 14-15 or 15-16? Does it coincide with your school catalog year or with the year you’ll be applying?
I killed the thread apparently.
Lol! Aepaige I think you have a good chance I think this thread has just slowed down a little these past couple days. I’ve always just used whichever year comes up on assist. Sometimes it will say that a new year is not yet available, so I would just go by the year that is shown.
I’m actually thinking of applying along with my husband…so here’s my stats…
Major: Gender/womens studies
GPA: 3.64
ECs: full-time work (40 hours a week), volunteer work at elementary school 2 hours a week.
Other info: first generation college student, have dependants. I got off to a rough start at first which is why my GPA is low. I had a 1.67 from 2010, started going back last year and have been going full time since and brought it up to 3.64. I plan to get it to a 3.75 by the end of the fall quarter. Transferring from cc.
@sugarbabies3 You should! They like upward trends. Will you have IGETC / any articulated prereqs completed? Your personal statement will likely be very important for you. I think you have a solid shot. That’d be great if you both got in!
You’re so positive, @goldencub! I wish I had your outlook. I feel like I have no chance, haha.
I’m also a returning student after screwing up severely in 2007, @sugarbabies3. Have you tried looking into academic renewal for your old grades? It would up your GPA a lot and you wouldn’t have to retake the class.
Seriously, academic renewal is great. Look into it. I didn’t even think to check on the schools I went to like 12 years ago and i’m glad I did because I had hella F’s and now they’re not counted towards my GPA.
@aepaige 3.64 is probably fine for Gender/Women’s Studies, and they have a compelling story (they made a post with their husband’s stats and info first) - plus: parent, first-gen, non-traditional student, works full-time while increasing GPA are all good things, especially for Berkeley.
@goldencub thanks a bunch! My IGETC will be complete this spring.
@aepaige Do you know how long it takes to get the academic renewal done? One of the classes I flunked and re-took and got an A. The other I failed was a PE course, and I can’t re-take, so I’d like to get that one removed.
Oh ya @goldencub looking on assist there’s no articulated courses for my major, but I’d be transferring with an AA in liberal arts, social sciences, and a AA-T in sociology. I’m also taking women in American history, and even though it won’t count, I’m thinking of taking an online class in the summer on gender.
@sugarbabies3 I had an F for a class in 2009 at my school. Went to see a counselor for the AR it was gone within a week!!! You should definitely do it. My GPA went up soooooo much
@sugarbabies3 Ah, then I think you’ll be fine. Make sure to do well on your personal statement, again - you can express a lot of your strengths through it.
