You bringing up posts by Mike and GoldenCub from 20 pages back isn’t helping afrogeisha. It’s a weak attempt from you to rekindle an old debate by trying to prove you’re correct. The fact that you would even go back 20 pages searching for it, just to rub it in their faces, speaks volumes. They know what the TAG agreement is, they don’t need your help deciphering it. There’s nothing sly about my remark, you just need to learn to let things go.
Harassing you? Let me guess, like how solostish was “attacking” you? Funny how you called him out for “attacking you,” which turned out to be patently false, and you weren’t even man enough to apologize for falsely accusing him of that. Yet you cried a few dozen times about me “lying” about something you said. Yeah, makes total sense. Hypocrite.
“This is EXACLY why I say TAG is not guaranteed unless you follow the necessary steps.”
An offer of admission isn’t guaranteed unless you follow the necessary steps. That’s a novel concept…
Let. It. Go. You’ve become a cancer to this forum.
@afrogeisha I have no idea what Experience Berkeley entails. It couldn’t hurt to resubmit, though.
I agree with @music1990 completely.

If they knew what the TAG agreement meant they wouldn’t have been arguing against the correct interpretation of it. I explained to them that TAG is not really a guarantee unless you follow the certain rules. If this were so novel of a concept, then at the time, no one would have been arguing with me on that matter. They did not want to admit they were wrong at the time, either. They argued and argued against the facts I presented them with.

I actually DO know how to let things go because I simply respond to @solostish by saying. “No worries”, even though he WAS directing that comment at me. No apology is needed if I was the one being attacked in the first place.

I am here to help others and you seem to have an issue with that. I have no idea what your problem is. If you don’t like what I have to say then why don’t YOU just let it go?
" I explained to them that TAG is not really a guarantee unless you follow the certain rules. "
They know this. Just like they know there are certain rules to follow when a “normal” offer of admissions is sent. If a class is failed with a TAG, you’re not getting in. If a class is failed with a provisional admissions contract, you’re not getting in. There are always rules. Very little in life is guaranteed. But thanks for letting them know what they already knew. A for effort.
You were never being “attacked” by solostish. Yet you accused him of it in, I believe, 2 different posts. He explained what he said and it sounded like it had nothing to do with you. That’s really big of you though, letting it go and saying “No worries” after falsely accusing him of “attacking” you. You’re petty.
“Helping” isn’t brining up specific points from a discussion 3 days and 20 posts ago just to poke the fire and try to tell them you were right. I don’t think anybody has an issue with anybody helping, but your comments bringing TAG back up to Mike and GoldenCub wasn’t help, it was a jab.
Hi! I’ve written on the UCLA transfer page before but I am curious as to my chances at Cal. I was wondering if someone could please help me!
What are my chances?
Major: Sociology
UC GPA: end of fall - 3.75 and hopefully at least a 3.8 by end of spring
Major GPA: 4.0
Pre-Reqs: complete by the end of fall.
IGETC: will be complete by end of spring (missing a lab - doing in spring)
ECs:
- Phi Theta Kappa / Honors Society
- Habitat for Humanity active volunteer
- leader of my cc’s sociology and anthropology society
- working 15 hours a week for the past 2 years as a nanny
- tutor for elementary school kids
TAP (for la): yes
Personal statements: 8.5/10 - I started late but I’d say pretty good, pretty personal
Other:
- Low income
- Upward trend in grades
Sociology is a pretty impacted so I’m worried about my chances for my dream school. Does anyone know the average GPA for admitted applicants for soc.?
I’d really appreciate your opinions!
Also, does Berkley take into consideration the completion of the Honors Program even though that don’t offer TAP?
Thanks!
MODERATOR’S NOTE: Stop the bickering, or I will close the thread and issue warnings.
@sbccstudent19 You have a very good shot. I don’t see why you’d get rejected, honestly.
@sbccstudent19 Your stats in general seem pretty good … Berkeley is just a crapshoot in a lot of ways. Not sure what the average stats are for that program but yours, I would think, can’t be too far outside whatever they are. I’d think it would be hard for your application to not be competitive so long as your essays did a good job representing who you are.
MODERATOR’S NOTE: One. Last. Warning. I just deleted a few more posts. If ANY mention is made of earlier disagreements, this thread WILL be closed and people warned.
What are people’s thoughts as far as housing?
@goldencub I’m actually really confused about housing, I have no idea which apartments or dorms are the best to go for. If you know, do you mind sharing?
@goldencub I’ll be commuting 40 miles … should be a blast.
@briank82 Wow, what made you to decide in committing to that?
@RAHforHEE Student housing is generally very expensive through the university. Around 12k+ per year. Many people live in apartments somewhat near campus because they’re much more reasonable (through craigslist, etc.). Co-ops are also an option - generally very reasonable, but there are certain responsibilities that accompany theam (chores, activities I believe, etc.). I think all the dorms offer meal plans, though.
The Martinez Commons are extremely nice, I hear. (student housing through Cal)
Personally, I’m probably going to search for an apartment near campus. Hopefully I’ll have enough time, because it’s pretty competitive to get spots.
@briank82 Ah - planning to get a parking pass, then? Parking in Berkeley is pretty awful otherwise.
@goldencub I looked into it, but that’s pretty bad from what I hear as well. If you’re not there super early, everything is full.
I’m planning on driving to Fairfield (which is about 25 minutes) and catching a bus from there that goes only to El Cerrito BART. I’d catch the BART there and get dropped off right by campus.
Perhaps “commuting” wasn’t the correct word choice, but I’ll have a 40 mile trip regardless.
There’s no real easy option though as I live in the North Bay, which isn’t as connected as rest of the Bay Area in terms of public transit. I’m kind of established were I’m at though and my wife has a career, so we’d like to not move.
@goldencub - thank you!
@briank82 - thank you for commenting on my post but what did you mean by UCB being a crapshoot?
Also, I read on different forums here that it is unlikely to get into UCLA and UCB, is that true? If so, why?
It’s just hard to know how the dice will roll in one’s favor with UCB. People with perfect GPAs get turned down and people with not perfect GPAs get in. I would think you’re competitive though, which is all that really matters. If you’re grades are good enough, it really just depends on how else you made yourself shine elsewhere in your application.
Guys, I have a question.
so apparently I just received an award for one of my ECs at the end of Fall 2015, which I didn’t include in my application since the deadline is November 30th. Should I contact the admission office? If so, will they accept changes/ additional award?
I will also have a new tutoring Job beginning Spring 2016, will they consider it?
Thanks !
@sbccstudent19 One schools acceptance is independent of another schools acceptance. It’s not true that you cannot get into both. I go to a really good CC in Southern California, so experiences may be different from various CC’s. Almost everyone I know who got into UCLA also got into UCB as a regular applicant. Our TAP agreement with UCLA got about 90% of the students into that school last year, and each and every one of them also got into UCB. So, yes it is definitely possible to get into both schools.
