Personal insight Qs: I think they’re good LOL
@collegeSOS Take in account that MCB BioChem requires transfers to score 75% on the ACS Exam. If you have this, then you’re in (it’s not an impacted major - it is the hardest track in MCB)
Ive taken 56.5 units at my current junior college LACC. However my last 4 units (statistics) I want to take at BCC. When I transfer, according to assist.org, will I be a transfer student from LACC or BCC
@screenname9 Abbreviate. With the department and course number, they’ll figure out the course from those and an abbreviated course name. I abbreviated ‘Intro to Computer Programming for Scientists and Engineers’ to ‘Com. Programming - MATLAB’ for example.
@collegeSOS I don’t know. In my College we finished Ochem in Spring and at the end of the semester, as part of our final exam, we had to take the ACS (in which the avg. was 45%). But yeah, you can still apply/get admitted without it but if you get less than 75% your admission would be rejected. Just let you know that Biochem MCB is a GPA killer, so take this in account.
I have a question to ask, one that my counselor and I are not too sure about - I am anthropology major, and I have completed all my pre-reqs and IGETC. With that being said, we are having a hard time figuring out what I should take in the Spring quarter. Because I am no longer a CS major (I finally found what I wanted to do), would I be allowed to take the third and last installment to the CS series without UCB admission looking at me funny? I was thinking that since I already did well on the first 2 CS classes, I would take the third just to say I completed the series. I ask this because in my application, I mentioned how I had all these engineering courses on my transcript, but I learned that it wasn’t something that I wanted to do.
@Kozmos2050 Taking one CS class shouldn’t raise any suspicions that you’ll try to change your major to CS. Go ahead and do it - it’s good to have some practical skills under your belt.
Does anyone know how UCB or the UC system in general responds to withdrawn courses (they were approved by my CC and thus did not factor into my GPA)? There was one semester where I had to drop two classes (10 out of 13 units) because of financial and family troubles. I did not retake the courses because they were not relevant to IGETC or my major. My academic record is otherwise nearly perfect; 3.93 GPA, 4.00 major GPA, followed a UC transfer pathway, completed all Assist requirements and more, IGETC certified, completed over 60 transferrable units, exec VP of my school’s ASB, speech and debate team, PTK, dean’s list, received academic awards, worked 30 hours per week at my job, cool extracurricular activities, unique story. Ugh, please let me know what you think! I’m just concerned because I didn’t retake the classes, but I didn’t have anymore time to spend on classes that I didn’t need! Thanks!!
@lexluther96 Cal doesn’t care for any classes you don’t need for your major or IGETC. As long as you have everything set under assist.org, you’re good to go. I had to drop a major recommended req. (Physics) on my last semester (since I would have failed), and they said it doesn’t matter for them since I can finish it in Cal (And I did, although it was painful). Cal is also very considerate in terms of personal issues. Your reasons also sound very valid, so they will take in account (although again, they probably won’t care since these classes aren’t relevant to your major). I’m not sure how it works these days, but you should be able to update these classes in the system. If there is no way to update, wait for your admission results and update your admission officer and wait for a response back.
