UC Berkeley 2017 Transfer Thread

This is an off topic question, but is there any reason why this thread is so empty? Looking through last year’s Cal transfer thread it has around 300 pages or so. In comparison, this year’s thread is extremely dead with around 30 pages in total.

@Orangered123. Ya right last years Berkeley thread had so much more activity. Well every single thread had a lot of activity. Aside from UCLA and UCSD threads all the other ones have been pretty dead this year.

Theres actually another berkeley thread thats just as active as this one so i think thats why LOL

@badmintongirl I was told noon by an admissions reader.

@lovelyyliz Wait 12 on Friday? Ohhh man. Thanks!

Hey everyone! Will any of you be attending Cal Day?

I’m excited to attend, but only thing I hate is that we won’t know whether we’re admitted, kind of defeats the purpose of Cal Day being for newly admitted students…

When is Cal Day?

@lexluther96 It’s April 22nd from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. I suggest that you check all of the events first and then plan from there since there is going to be about 400 events all throughout the day.

Here is the website: http://calday.berkeley.edu/

Just speaking for myself: I feel like there’s a slimmer chance of getting into Berkeley and it’s also the last school to find out about, so no use wasting my energy when I can be FREAKING OUT over other schools instead

Just realized I was wearing a Cal t-shirt (which I just threw on without looking while rushing to make my 8AM class), and started freaking out again about April 28 X_X

@lovelyyliz yeah I wanted to go but like you said, it’s a lot different going when you know you’ve been admitted rather than still waiting.

@sueno53 Im relying heavily on AP courses for half my units, so that has me a tiny bit worried. On the UC Transfer Admission Planner (TAP) did it say your credits would be counted?

Yes they’re counted.

Did anyone receive an alumni scholarship application earlier this year? They sent them out in Feb (?) last year.

I’d be really surprised if they release decisions while the admissions office is still open. That would be a really rough afternoon of disappointed and angry phone calls.

Great, thank you. Does anybody know if admissions typically looks down upon having a significant number of units come from APs?

No, they won’t. They do prefer courses over AP but a lot of one year transfers do it with limited actual coursework.

@Orangered123 tbh berkeley isn’t my top choice, nor my second, nor my third. i dont really care if i get in here or not cuz i hated the campus and area and people. but i still applied cuz it’s the #1 school for my major so why not? if i don’t get into my #1 choice, then at least i still got into a top 10 school through cal. but i think id prefer ucsd or ucla over cal… idk it’d be a tough choice. anyways i don’t really have any expectations for cal and whether or not i get in or not so that’s why i rarely enter here. id probably feel bad if i didn’t make it because everyone i know who has applied has gotten in, so i’d feel pretty un-superior. honestly a huge chunk of why i even applied is just to see if i can but honestly odn’t care much for this school.

Do we find get decisions @5pm on Friday the 28th?

@effuueffeff they release them on a Friday at 5 p.m. Lolll
