@transferrr1234 I see! I am too. So my counselor who works closely with UCLA admissions told me today that UCLA is sensitive to accept Nor Cal students because they generally end up choosing to go to school here, as opposed to moving to LA. That could be a factor in our waitlist decision.
I might end up at either UCD or UCI if cal and LA don’t workout.
@kors03 I meant that I did the application for the ID, I got the same email as you and don’t have an ID yet.
where are you guys seeing the “new admit” on MAP or CalNet??
@kors03 under notifications on the side
@kors03 cal net
@UCLAorUCBTRNSFR i couldn’t find my name there but had the “new admit tour” thing
I am so over this… I created the summer application, but got no CalNet ID… I tried using my MAP logins but nothing worked.
How did you guys even get the Cal Net ID’s in the first place
@amunroeee For the waitlist at UCLA its basically all or nothing right? Like they don’t tell you if you got a spot or not until UC decisions are due? kinda confused by the whole waitlist thing haha
anyone else getting errors when trying to login to calnet?
accepted to UCLA yesterday! but does anyone know when CAL decisions come out? I am sure its been addressed before but I am new here.
@pantafootball2 Congrats on UCLA! Decisions are out tomorrow. No one is really sure about the time though
@eel314 I am! I can’t log in with my MAP id, there’s an error message
@pantafootball2 me too!!!
People are saying around 3:30-4
Don’t wanna go crazy on this whole calnet thingie and, for anyone reading, this is JUST SPECULATION but I might have an idea about this:
I was reading their documentation and apparently you get an LDAP account once you are accepted and they put you inside the “presir” ou (Think of ou as just a group, and you can be member of many groups in LDAP). The presir ou grants you access to calnet and other dashboards.
Now just having access to calnet doesn’t mean you are in presir, as other ous might also have that permission (such as summer session students), BUT getting access quickly after you submit the request might be an indication of that you already had an LDAP account in the system.
But again, take this info with a grain of salt. I applied about 8 hours ago and still haven’t gotten the response email.
has anyone tried calling to find out what time decisions are being released?
@UCLAorUCBTRNSFR My stats/info from an chance me post I made a few weeks ago.
In-state CC student
Major: Cognitive Science
GPA: 3.78 (UC Infocenter lists CogSci’s 2016 transfer admit 25th-75th percentile range as 3.58 to 3.91) That said, the major has gotten more competitive. Before last year it had a 20%+ admission rate, last year that dropped to 12% making it a quite competitive major.
Major Prep: Finished all Pre-Requisites available in my local CC and am currently doing another one available at another CC. I have also fulfilled an upper division Philosophy requirement by taking and equivalent lower division course at my CC. I’ve taken numerous un-required philosophy courses and courses that help my GPA and I hope the phil courses show to them that I’m quite interested in CogSci.
IGETC: Completed this Spring
Berkeley American Cultures and History Graduation Requirements: I’ve completed an equivalent course to Cal’s American Cultures Grad requirement at my CC and I have both AP credit and also all American History courses at my CC completed.
TAG: No
ECs:
-Served on Student Government as Senator
-Part of the honors club @school and have taken honors courses
-Math Tutor (3 hours a week and have been doing for 3 years now)
-Worked as an volunteer for an organization registering voters for the 2016 election
-Internship at a Silicon Valley startup learning a new CS language and programming
Awards:
-Dean’s List for 3 quarter at the time of application.
Personal Statements:
Required question, Fairly decent. Spoke about Cognitive Science and Computer Science and how I want to pursue artificial intelligence and such as a career/field of interest.
The rest of my personal statement essays are pretty good and well put together. They aren’t mind blowing, but help paint a better picture of who I am. Work I did to better my CC through the Student Government (best essay), my hobby of writing short stories for fun and a leadership experience where I was the group head for a class project.
On the whole I personally would say I have a strong chance since I’m above the 50% (barely, but higher), have fairly strong EC’s my main one being my Student Government work which I went into quite a bit depth for so they make up for the lack of quantity for quality.
@amunroeee You have a 3.95 and applied to Psych? I assume all the pre-reqs done too? If so I don’t think you would have been rejected. Seeing extremely high stats like that suggest that maybe we’re measuring all of this wrong and freaking out over inconsequential things?
@UCLAorUCBTRNSFR I made my account through summer app. I said I applied to cal but didn’t know and wanted to take summer classes. Maybe that has an affect? Though I think everyone/most chose the same things too.
@Aerolyze when did you get your calnetid, maybe they just haven’t updated it yet. I got mine this morning at around 10:30am, I applied for it at like 1 am.
@tulip33 @champagnemami thank you! good luck everyone!
I just got an email back from the summer application website thing giving me a CalNet ID
Dude Chicago is nothing like that @bugajskj. @lexluther96. Chicago isn’t as ghetto or dangerous as people say. Surely people get shot and murdered all the time, but that also happens everywhere. They would have had all of what this kid said in the news if it actually happened. There aren’t “random bullets” flying around in Chicago. It isn’t a war zone. Just because you lied in your essays feeding them some BS, I actually hope you don’t get in. They would’ve sent the military where you live if it is 10% of what you’re claiming. This is coming from someone’s whos father owns corner stores all round the worst parts of Chicago. I’ve worked all around there all my life and I know what its all about. Kids a liar
