I’m probably forgetting a lot of information that would help but that’s the gist!
Your ACT composite is a bit low for UCLA/UCB and if you are planning to pursue a major in Neurobiology, your ACT Math score will not do you any favors but excellent Reading/Language scores.
You have a solid GPA but I think they are going to be a tough admit. Since EC’s and essays are subjective and difficult to quantify, both schools will be a Slight Reach.
Freshman admit rate for UC GPA of 4.20 or higher:
UCB: 46%
UCLA: 53%
Hopefully you have some solid Match and Safety schools on your list and Good Luck.
I thought they disregarded major selection for all UC frosh admits? I was invited to the UC for You event and they said they would pretty much disregard the chosen major and look at everyone as if they were undeclared. Thanks for your feedback! Also, they’ve asked for Letters of Rec, which I hope is a good thing. I had terrible luck with the math and science portions of the ACT (rough time in personal life) and don’t believe they reflected my capabilities, but have good grades in advanced classes.
Actually I meant to ask about LOR’s but if you received a request, definitely a good sign. For L&S, yes intended major is not considered, but you still need to be competitive in all areas for these selective schools and your ACT score is the only slight blemish I see on your record. You are not out of the running, but there is no way to really tell anyone’s chances other than based on your stats… I would love to hear that you did get in so please update when the time comes.
@Gumbymom@gklfajg@NYUPlox I have just been rejected by UCLA. Do you think I still have a chance at UCB? It’s my dream school I’ve turned in two LORs upon their request.
