OTHER QUESTIONS
UC Berkeley requires NO teacher recs, right?

Do Persians get the same benefits as minorities?

I haven't started the application yet. Do you think I can get it done in two and a half weeks?

I have many other (more minor, I think) ECs, but I didn't list them because I thought it would be better to list my most unique ones. Should I expand my list, or is what I have listed above good enough?

UC GPA please
No recs needed
and yes, you can finish the app in 2 and a half weeks
no, i think UC’s would want less EC"s that you did well in than a bunch of EC’s that were…egh…

you could finish the app in 3 hours if you had to

what is a UC GPA??

^ UC’s only count GPA from certain core subjects in your sophomore and junior years…freshman grades aren’t counted.

Also, what state are you from?

You have a good shot, IMO. Write stand-out essays.

Good luck! I love out-of-staters wanting to become Bears!

Keep in mind, though, you’ll have to apply “Undeclared - Pre-Business”. You’ll then need to take the prerequisites and apply to Haas School of Business during your sophomore year, for junior-standing admittance to the business program.

LOL. It’d be WEIRD if you dont get accepted in UCB. If it were the Ivies, it’d be different (not that your stats lag behind…), but for UCB, with your stats, no matter what state ur in, you’ll get accepted (prediction)

^ True, he does have awesome stats and impressive ECs.

You have a good shot at Berkeley OOS, as your whole resume is generally strong, but it’s largely a crapshoot – I’ve seen plenty of OOS students of your caliber get rejected. Good luck.

Thanks, guys! I’m applying to some Ivy schools, but I wouldn’t be that surprised if I get rejected from all of them (given the competitive applicant pool, it’s mostly up to luck). I’m glad to know that UCB is not quite AS competitive.
I’m from Neb. (haha), so it would be really nice if I could make the big leap to California. I love Berkeley’s campus.

Many have compared Berkeley OOS to Ivy League admissions (I believe OOSers only made up 10% of the total # accepted, and the admissions rate was lower than the overall).

Hmmmm. That’s what I had originally thought. This does not look too good… Ah well, no harm in trying.

Is Berkeley your top choice?

I can’t really say because I haven’t visited most of the schools I’m applying to. But, Berkeley’s probably my favorite based on what I’ve seen so far, especially since it’s so close to family. At the same time, staying put is a tempting option because I could go to school here for almost-free.

You’re a match, you should apply to some privates you have a good shot.

Weigh your options when you got all financial aid offers all on the table. Berkeley is great, but is it worth the premium you’ll be paying over in-state students? Only you can answer that question once you know the hand you’re dealt.

Good luck!
