UC Berkeley - Class of 2020 Waitlist

@freakingout98 well it looks like nobody from the college of Letters and Science has been accepted as of now. So either they have no opening spots or they haven’t released those decisions yet.

Sat was a 2110, gpa was a 4.36. Essays were pretty good and I wrote an extra essay for the extra information part. And my main extracurriculars were band and FRC robotics for five years I sent a robotics portfolio to Berkeley as well. Also sat subject were 740 for math 2 and 690 for physics, my grandpa died a week before I had to take them, Berkeley does not know this.

L&S - stay hopeful. College of Letters & Science is the largest college (75% of class) and I don’t see how they could know how much space there is until after May 2nd. The fact that some were admitted off the wait list early to other smaller colleges, the fact that the deadline to SIR was extended, might be good signs. Admissions said acceptances will come in waves and I was personally told the next wave will be Monday, but that may have changed due to extended SIR date.

@catswin ?

There’s no way they’re done with the waitlist. They still have no idea who’s attending or not. They’ll know after may 2. Also, most majors still haven’t accepted anyone off the waitlist.

Also, anyone get into IEOR?

Isn’t the college of chemistry part of the college of letters and science

@Sashadem No, Chemistry is one of those popular majors for which there are two routes. In this case, via College of Chemistry OR Letters and Sciences. Same goes for Computer Science. Very confusing, I know. http://guide.berkeley.edu/undergraduate/degree-programs/chemistry/

@LordCommander nope, just guesswork based on last year’s release dates (around first week of May)

Hey guys, I had a question and would be really thankful if any of you had any info about this. I know the ucs admit off of the waitlist by looking at how many spaces are open in your major/department. But do they also look at how many people from your high school are enrolling to the school? Last year only about 15 people from my high school decided to attend Berkeley but this year about 20-25 are going to attend. Would that lower my chances of getting off the waitlist?

What I don’t understand is that I applied for a biology major, was waitlisted, and now got admitted to the college of chemistry. Is it hard to switch from one college to another

@Sashadem that could mean that they have no opening spots in the college of Letters and Science, which explains why nobody has gotten off of the waitlist for it. What was the major you applied for?

@stillstressed I doubt they have no spots left. It’s not even May 1st yet and L&S is the biggest school on campus.

I agree with @freakingout98 , it seems highly unlikely that Berkeley has already filled ALL spots they had allocated for L&S, as the Waitlist pool was pretty big this year and if previous years are an indicator, they probably anticipate accepting at least SOME of these students

Does anyone know the top 3 most applied for majors in L&S for UC Berkeley?? Is psychology one of the tops??

@stillstressed Biology

Hi everyone, does anyone know the average number of engineering undeclared applicants who applied each year and the admittance rate for engineering undeclared? Also, are the applications gonna be reviewed under specific majors (mechanical engineering, EECS etc) or schools (ie. engineering, L&S) as a whole? Thank you!

@Fairplay01 college of engineering and environmental design admit by major, all other colleges admit by college.

So stressed for tomorrow’s wave…

@Alkaseltza Will there be a wave tomorrow? How do you know this?
