so its confirmed that decisions are coming out at around 3??
^^^ I think they release decisions at 4 pm this year. I’m not 100% sure
@GoodAfternoonSir for Haas they’re releasing at 4pm
is it for sure berkeley releases decisions all at once? or do they release it throughout the afternoon/night?
also feeling super super super unconfident about this rn… i don’t go to a ccc and i feel like that’s gonna cost me my admission good luck to everyone though! hope we all can get in already!!!
wouldnt they release around the same time?
so 7pm eastern…
im gonna have to take my lunch for the next hour so that HOPEFULLY when I come back I can check the portal. I really wanted to film a reaction video but IDK if I can do it at work
@luna0915 They’re all great programs! Berkeley is the most focused on teaching undergrads history of (Western) philosophy but we have strengths in all the major areas of contemporary analytic philosophy (mind, moral philosophy, language, theory of knowledge, formal logic, etc.), and all the students are really committed to thinking stuff through – it’s a great place to study philosophy. UCLA has strengths in language, mind, moral, and legal philosophy – a very prominent legal philosopher I like, Seana Shiffrin, teaches there. I think UCI is good for the philosophy of science (?) and theory of knowledge, but it’s a very solid program overall, and UCSD is an excellent program as well. I forget what their program is like exactly, but they have some very prominent philosophers of mind/cognitive science working there.
If you’re thinking of going to graduate school, it’s wisest to go to the most prestigious place (according to the Philosophical Gourmet Report). So Cal/UCLA are ideal, and UCI and UCSD are about tied. But I think these are all excellent places to study philosophy. They’re all really great, well-known programs that will give you a strong education in philosophy. I can speak to my time at Cal more, though.
this stress is not good for my health…
Good luck y’all!
Alright guys, we got only a couple of hours left, we’re in the endgame now
whatever it takes
@misseskite same! im at work constantly refreshing these threads! I really want to be home when I check these decisions but Im not sure if I can hold off logging into the portals for so long
Anyone know how the economics program is at cal? Ranked #3 in the nation
decisions come out at 3 or 4?
@katyamzz do you have a source for that statistic? I’m an Econ major
Here’s an Econ/B-school ranking where Berkeley is ranked 4th in the world: https://thebestschools.org/features/best-business-economics-programs-in-world-today/
@llaauurenn I think I was looking at an old one us news ranking lol! But yeah 4th not 3rd that’s pretty awesome! Nobel Prize awards in the econ department
Always use Repec department rankings for Econ: https://ideas.repec.org/top/top.econdept.html
what are the rankings based on? like jobs that people get once they graduate, the professors, or prestige?
any idea how econ compares to political econ at cal? can one switch from one to the other if admitted as a transfer student?
