Are there any UC Berkeley forums discussing different general topics? Not just academics, but politics, computers/technology, etc for current and prospective UC Berkeley students?

There's always the UCB community at livejournal, but it's more focused on some random classes, local events, housing, etc.

So I assume there is no forum for Berkeley and prospective students, right?

There probably is. Check berkeley.edu / google / facebook / something like that. There's bound to be something. =)

I asked the exact same question last year. From what I know, there is no Berkeley forum established by the university. I think the MCB department (or one of the biology ones) has its own forum on its website but it's tiny. There might be other small forums like that but generally the Berkeley livejournal group and CC are about the best you get.

That's pretty sad... perhaps someone should make one. =)

Pretty much everyone is on facebook.com, and you can make groups or join groups to discuss about various topics.

I agree with the thought that the school should have one (or a blog), at least for admissions stuff.

i think there's ucb.* on usenet

wasn't someone starting some sort of wiki or something like that? i remember some sort of thread being posted of the sort in recent weeks

Some people post quite a bit on Berkeley facebook groups as well (Class of 20XX groups, as well as residence hall groups and etc.)

Actually. I've found a site too.

http://BerkleyLive.Net ---Made by Berkeley students for Berkeley students.

It was just launched. One of my friend is on the development team. =O

^they spelled Berkeley wrong, n00bs

NVM, you just typed Berkeley wrong, so you're the n00b
