UC (Berkeley, LA, SD, Davis, Irvine) and Cal Poly SLO

Hey guys, first timer here, and I wanted your guys' feedback on my chances to get into these schools. As for my major, I am currently torn between business and engineering (broad majors, I know..). The title is also in order of difficulty, eg top reach, mid reach, and low (I would assume? =P) reach schools

cal poly slo - match/low match

what do you mean unreleased/may take math 2 again? math 2’s score is something they like to look at for engineering.

thanks for helping!
I mean that I JUST took them today (10/9), and I do not know my score. I skipped quite a few, so I am retaking it on Nov 6 just in case.

Both GPA and scores are below average at Cal and LA making them significant reaches. The others are solid matches.

thanks too!
yeah i’ve figured that…hopefully my personal statements will give me that little jump for consideration

yea, your gpa is low… for ucla, berkeley and ucsd. I think you have a very good chance for all the other uc’s. You should apply to berkeley, ucla and ucsd because the first two use holistic grading system, so they look at everything. But try not to get your hopes up.

Also good shot for cal poly, but if you are gonna go there do engineering. Engineering or ArchE are the only things worth going to cal poly for

thanks!
yeahh i think so too. ucsd (out of those three reaches) would be the most likely to be borderline to matching.
yupp, cal poly slo is only on that list because of my possible engineering major

UCSD: average UC GPA: 4.1. Average SAT: 2050. Higher for engineering.

Berkeley = super reach

bump bump bump

according to the uc website

San Diego: 4.08: 1960: 29
Irvine: 4.01: 1870: 27

These are real statistics from the UC website

I also think that you have a shot at the mid-tier UC’s BUT I would go to Cal Poly, particularly for Engineering, as previously suggested. If you haven’t visited, go check out San Luis Obispo. It is a really nice school, in a really nice town-- even IF you decide to major in business…

thanks for the advice! any moree?

GPA’s are pretty… eh…
SAT’s/AP’s are good (not great).
EC’s are very good.

Hope this helps!

And don’t listen to RML about Berkeley being a… “Super Reach”.
RML’s a “Super ■■■■■”.
