HI people,
I was currently enrolled at UC Berkeley for the fall 2007 semester. Unfortunately my admission was cancelled. I was stunned after heaing about the cancellation. I am now left with the option of trying to get into UCLA, which offered me admission for fall 2007. I was wondering what my chances were of trying to get into UCLA now past the normal registration period. What about my housing there and classes. Ahhhh they arent offering spring admission for mass comm majors so maybe I was thinking that they can make an exception and let me in in the fall. Please give me some ideas.

Why was your admissions rescinded?

yeah I'm also wondering the same thing

lol, probably failed class.........

i don't know for sure, but your chances of getting into UCLA now are slim. school starts in about a month so i doubt they'll accept more students. are you JUST NOW dealing with this? when did you find out you got rescinded from berkeley?

why was your admission rescinded?....i'm dying to know.

School starts really soon, so I doubt it. However, I do know someone that transferred from UC Berkeley to UCLA sometime in his freshman year (don't know if he finished a semester or not). Still, if you were revoked, chances are you won't be any better treatment from UCLA.

couldnt have been failing...unless ur grades were that bad...i believe all UCs required a B average to retain admission...

so how'd you get cancelled?

Tell us! LOL. We all want to know.

1) Why was your acceptance canceled? Grades? If it's grades, then I don't know if you have much of a chance at LA either...
2) You found out now?! Berkeley is starting verrryyy soon, and it's probably too late to get into LA, so how long did you know this? Maybe it's a mistake?
3) You MIGHT have a shot at Spring Semester, depending on why it got canceled.
4) Most likely, you'll have to just go to a JC or something and transfer in later on.
5) I feel your pain.

Well heres the story: My parents house got a call on Thursday from one of the head admissions officers. When i heard about this call I was assuming that it was about my fees that I have yet to pay since my Financial Aid was being worked on. When you enroll at UC Berkeley you are given this website which keeps track of all the things that you need to turn in by July 15th. I was very sure that all my paperwork was ready to go. I moved into UC Berkeley last Sunday and thought everything was okay except my financial aid which I knew was being worked on. On this checklist website the only thing it said I was missing was my hs transcripts which were on the way. I got a call Thursday night from one of the head admissions officers. She basically told me that I was missing my transcripts from my spring 07 semester from my junior college and my HS transcripts. I was shocked to hear this because on my checklist website it only said that I was missing my hs transcripts and mentioned nothing about my Spring 07 transcripts or my IGETC certification. I immediately thought that this was a warning so said I was getting them there right away. Unfortunately the call wasn't made to tell me that it was a warning but it was a informative call telling me that my contract was canceled. It was a nightmare. Apparently UC Berkeley was trying to contact me through email about my missing paperwork however I recently changed emails so all their emails were being sent to my old address. I was unable to receive these warnings. I was sort of frustrated that they never called me about this missing paperwork. The only time I got a call was when my contract was canceled, which was weird. Also I don't understand why they waited till I moved in to call me. I'm going to try and see what I can do to see if I can get in during the spring 08. It was a matter of three papers that weren't turned in. The admissions people showed no sympathy as well and were unnecessarily rude, which surprised since I did not even argue with them or raise my voice. Now I must attend my JC and finish some prerequisites for my med school that I was planning on taking later. Worst comes the worst Im going to have to apply again. In the mean time Im going to concentrate on making my GPA even higher to increase my chances of getting back in. I miss Berkeley already as my first week there was one of the best weeks I have ever had in my life. I met so many cool interesting people. I also grew as a person as well having conquered homesickness and my distaste for trying new things. I learned so much about people and how beautiful of a place Berkeley really is. I will stop at nothing till I get back there. This is coming from a person that wanted to go to UCLA and hated Berkeley initially. Berkeley truly is one of those special towns that just grows on you and develops a unique connection.

Edit: I changed email companies from sbc to comcast.

If the administration is unwilling to talk to you, perhaps you should go in person? Get those papers turned in and see if you can go for Spring '08. Again, try to communicate with them for options, it can't hurt, but I don't know how much it will help either.

Oh so you're not out.. darn.

Just kidding

dude....UCLA is wayyy better...

keep trying.

Thats a cautionary tale if I've ever heard one. Sorry.

And UCLA is better than Berkeley? Really?!

I dont know Berkeley has a way of growing on people. I never met so many cool laid back people in my life. I hated.. I mean absolutely hated it when I was first there. My second day there I wanted to be nowhere else but UCLA. As the days went by I grew more in love with the town. People there are so friendly and interesting. The frats were awesome and my dorm mates were the ****. Berkeley does not have jsut nerdy guys and ugly women. In fact when I was there it was the exact opposite the women were gorgeous and the guys were some of the coolest people I have met in a long time. San Francisco is right next door. Man I really hope we I can go back in the spring.

In regards to making a good argument how can I best persuade them to let me back in. I am seriously open to all recommendations.

explain to them exactly what happened and how it wasn't your fault.
