Facing a dilemma right now (kind of). I'm an in-state Washington resident, and I got accepted to the University of Washington. It's $20,000. I also got accepted to UC Berkeley (dream school), but it's giving me zero grants or anything in financial aid, only loans. The entire tuition, $55,000, everything all in loans. My parents can cover about $25,000 but the other half we'll have to take in loans.
Is attending Berkeley really worth it at the expense of all the debt I'll collect? If there's one thing I learned, I know that an undergrad is not worth taking out so much money in loans. I'm fine with attending the University of Washington, but I'm not completely in love with it. It's kind of like my oh, I guess I'll go here school.

That much debt is not worth it.

Oh, I guess you have to go to UW.

It’s a great school.

UCB isn’t worth the $100k + premium.

Good luck.

OP, there are plenty of California students heading up to Washington for college because Cal is their oh, I guess I’ll go here school. :)

I’m a Cal alum. The school isn’t worth that amount of debt (pretty much no school is!). You’ll find plenty to love about Washington.
