UC Berkeley Sciences Po Dual BA Application 2017

Hi everyone,
I applied last November to the Sciences Po/UC Berkely Dual BA, to the Menton campus. I’m looking for other students applying to the Dual BA.

A stressed French student

Thanks for creating the new thread! - a (slightly) stressed European applicant

Hey awesome!! I’m applying from the US, and hoping to get into the Le Havre Campus

Hello, I’m applying from the U.S. as well (Reims campus). Out of curiosity, have any of you received any sort of confirmation beyond that first email with the broken link? I haven’t.

Since then I haven’t received anything either… Let’s see

@ClaraOswald908 Nope. However, I emailed them about the concern and they responded that all applications were still in review. So nothing to worry about

@ginjoe
Did they say anything about when we would get some news?

@curlykat Unfortunately no, they were very blunt with their response. Hopefully it’s soon!

Just got an interview invitation! Anyone know what sort of questions to expect?

@student1978 Just got one too! According to previous applicants, I think the interview is more serious than traditional American college interviews. They tend to test you on current events. Some people got questions on Syria last year, I think.

They’d probably ask you about the region of your campus, right? I applied to Le Havre so I’ll probably just brief myself on Asian current events.

Got one earlier today! Good luck to everyone!

Has anyone had their interview yet?

I had my interview yesterday morning! I think it went relatively well even though the wifi cut out twice. Anyone else have their interview? I can try to answer some questions for people who haven’t interviewed as well as compare notes with people who have.

@floweredbeard I’d love it if you could answer some questions about the interview! I haven’t done mine yet.
Did they conduct any part of the interview in French, or was it all in English? And were they asking you mostly questions about yourself (i.e. why you’re interested in Sciences Po), or about world affairs (i.e. French elections, Donald Trump, Middle East…)?
I’m freaking out and have no idea what to expect. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hello! @curlykat ! Just some background, I applied to the Reims campus and I am a student from the US. Where are you from/ applying to? That may change some of the questions asked. I think mine went pretty good overall, the said they were impressed by my application but I’m sure all applicants they are interviewing have good apps. The whole interview is conducted in English. It was a good balance of personal and knowledge-based questions. They didn’t grill me on past events or ask me to put together a presentation on an article like some other people have said. It was pretty casual, they opened with the standard “what drew you to this program” and asked questions after based on what I said I was interested in. I mentioned I kept up with European events and they then asked me to elaborate on what specifically I followed, which is pretty open. It was sort of directed by me and I knew at least something about things they brought up or asked what I heard of. Of course, if you are applying to a different campus or are a non-native speaker it may be more difficult/a different experience. They leave some time at the end for any questions, but it’s not too much time as they said they are on a tight schedule. I think overall you’ll be fine as long as you know why you’re applying to the program and keep up with current events! Good luck all!

Update! I got an email at around 5 saying I’m in! Hope I’ll have some of you as classmates this fall. I’m still waiting on some of my other colleges but this is at the top of the list.

Anyone else get in that’s going to the Le Havre campus??

Got in to Reims earlier today! I hope everyone did well.

I got in to Menton! On a related note, does anyone know a current student on the program i could talk to? I have some questions…
