UC Berkeley TAP (Transfer Alliance Program)

Good stuff. Just like you mentioned, I feel like knowing what the UC app wants from you(educational prep, honors awards, EC, WE) is important to know as early as possible. Puente, UCB TAP, UCLA TAP, CC Honors Program, AGS, PTK, etc. Also try to find ecs or w.e. as soon as possible if you have none now. From now to the time you apply, you want to be able to show that you stuck to something and show commitment instead of joining a bunch of programs and did a lot of ecs right before applying. The latter would be too transparent for admissions.

Do you have to be attending a CCC that has a TAP program? I’m going to go to DVC this fall, and it doesn’t look like they have one there, unless I’m not looking hard enough.

Does anyone have info about Nocal TAP orientation?

I talked to Keith one of the directors of the program and he said its around the 3rd-4th week of June (20-26ish). Can’t wait!

I qualify for TAP but I haven’t been invited. I am applying this fall, is it too late to join? Is it even possible to ask for an invite?

@Shannon, I’m going to message you through pm for all of the details. Its much more faster and efficient, If i just gave you my email address.

Did anyone get an email about the Nocal orientation at UCB? My email said its Tuesday the 26th and for my friend his is on the 22nd. Anyone get one of these days?

@MeStudyStuff (or anyone that knows) I too have seen the list of schools on Ms. Suns website but it’s pretty dated. Does anybody know if the list is not updated because no new schools have been added to the program?

I don’t know the most up-to-date school list but you might get some more info here:

I’m going on the 26th!:)

They need to tell us Southern Californians the orientation date! Grrrr.

they did…

Does anyone want to make a group in FB for us TAP members? That way it’s easier to communicate and ask questions. I can make it and invite if you guys would like? Or is that doing too much 0_o?

Hey guys,
I just have a couple questions in general. I’m a transfer student. Do I have to attend some certain colleges to be qualified for the TAP? And how do I apply for it?
Thanks for your help.

@jason6xy

Literally all the questions you asked were already answered in this post…

Sorry, I noticed that after I posted them. I was too eager to get started. Is it possible that I can join the UCB TAP if my CC is not on the list? And do you know if there is a list of CCC for the UCLA TAP?

@jason6xy
The odds of getting into Berkeley’s TAP if your CC isn’t listed is very low. You have to meet up with the Berkeley representative a few times and I don’t see how that’s possible if your college isn’t listed.

To be honest, I don’t know if there is a list for UCLA’s TAP programs. I would call your school’s honors program (you’re typically TAP certified through the completion of your school’s honor program) and ask if it’s possible to get TAP certified. Many of the So Cal CCs offer the TAP program but I would call each individual school just to make sure.

Got it. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

Hey guys I’m a current Transfer Alliance Project (TAP) student at Contra Costa College in San Pablo!

How I got in:

Checked the calendars and saw that a UC Berkeley representative was going to show up on a specific date in the Fall and signed up to meet her. During our initial meeting she asked me a couple of questions about what I wanted to major in, my future aspirations, and my own background. It was like a personal interview and she said I was TAP qualified and put me in!

I’ve had a lot of experience with the campus, research internship opportunities, and peer-mentorship while being in TAP. I’m not sure about boosting your “chances” in to UC Berkeley (Since it’s highly competitive, and my GPA is sooo not competitive), but it does give you a chance to see the campus, the Cal “environment,” and opens up doors to networking and other research that people normally have to find out on their own.

Look up the requirements or see a UC Berkeley representative and find out if you qualify! I highly suggest joining it!
