UC Berkeley TAP (Transfer Alliance Program)

Hello Everyone!
My name is Josh and I will be attending Ohlone College this semester. I’m not sure I completely understand how to get involved with the TAP program. Do I call Ohlone or do I call the TAP Director at UC Berkeley? Someone please help.
Thank you!

@smokeyou2 You need to speak with the representative to be invited to TAP. So, essentially UC Berkeley. It looks like your representative is Omar Ramirez, so you can consider looking him up.
But, you can also wait for a scheduled visit: [Transfer Center: University Rep Visits to Ohlone College Spring 2013 | Transfer Center - Ohlone College, Fremont and Newark, California](http://www.ohlone.edu/org/transfer/univrepvisits.html#ucb)
and state your interest in joining. Bring an unofficial transcript and you should be good.
Good luck.

I am a TAP student, and I have a question about TAP that I have never quite been able to figure out.

I hear that unlike UCLA, Berkeley TAP students do not get their application treated any differently when it is reviewed by UCB. But if this is the case, then how is it possible that TAP students have an admission rate THREE TIMES higher than other Berkeley transfer applicants? I know the TAP advisers are a great help with essays and what not, but are we supposed to think that this accounts for such a dramatic increase in a transfer applicant’s chance of getting admitted?

Just curious  Good luck to everyone!

@CQBanana

I am also a member of TAP. I think it also shows your dedication to Berkeley. And by definition, being in TAP means that you are either URM or low income.

Is anyone doing the summer enrichment program? (:

Oh okay, Thank you very much LordyGaga I will look into it! :)

This is relevant to the thread but not the questions asked before. I’m a tap student now, and was invited after my rejection to Cal from HS to the program. Some say this program is invitational only, but it isn’t. Sure some people are invited through email by the office of undergraduate admissions, but I believe that’s only if you applied, were rejected and were qualified. On another note, I had two friends who wanted to go to Cal (They didn’t apply in HS) and I recommended both of them and they both got in. I’m recommending one of my other friends now and I’m sure she’ll get in too. Most know that the majority of the people in the program fall under the low-income/1st generation category but don’t let that discourage you from applying. (My friends mom was a Cal alum meaning not first gen and he got in.) If anyone is interested in applying to tap shoot me a message.

CQBanana, from what I gather, they dont treat tap applicants any different in the Haas School of Business. The fact they tell us this probably means they take L&S tap applications with special consideration.

Bellsie, I did summer enrichment 2 years ago. If you have any questions let me know!

This is sooo helpful! Thank you everyone!

Hi, I’m a college student transferring to a 4-year university next fall. I read your discussion about UCB TAP and was really interested to apply. When I looked on the website, I didn’t find anything about TAP application. Do you know how I could apply for TAP?? My college (Skyline College) is on the TAP list by the way. I appreciate for your help.

@SkylineAK did anyone get back to you? I just found out about TAP and I really want to join! I’m in UCD’s equivalent. Help us out here
