I was browsing through the UC Infocenter and I came across an interesting statistic, 28 people applied as undeclared into the college of Letters and Sciences. 23 of those were accepted with a GPA range from 2.81 to 3.51.
I know that for L&S all students are admitted as undeclared and then they declare after they are admitted by petitioning, but I was under the assumption that as a transfer you are expected to already have your major already figured out. That the major you’re applying as in L&S should represent an indication of what you’re going to petition.
So with that in mind, why is there an undeclared major option to transfer in as? And since the GPA admit range is significantly lower than many other majors along with the admit rate being so high, should I consider applying under that and changing to my preferred major if I’m accepted?
