UC Berkeley - Visual and Preforming Arts credit

I am a high school student going into senior year with a GPA of 3.97 (unweighted) and all the various extracurriculars and whatnot, but while on the Berkeley website I discovered that they required a year of Visual and Preforming Arts (part of their 15 a-g classes). I've always been more of an academic and thus was never drawn to any of those classes, plenty of my friends took band, art, and theatre, but I never did, aside from a year in stagecraft (an extracurricular). My point is that I think I have a solid chance of getting into Berkeley, but this one requirement might exclude me before I get the chance. I read that an Art History course would count towards that, and I've taken 2 years of Humanities and will be taking my second year of Academic Decathlon as a tester. Both of these classes cover art history very in depth from the basics and principals of art to the Fauves. Would I be able to make this meet the requirement or should I change my schedule and try to get into History of Rock n Roll or even Honors Drama?

Take a look at some of the sample courses here. I think you need to try and change your schedule.

if you are a CA resident then your HS counselor will have a list of the approved classes offered by your school.

Take choir, it is easy and fulfills the "f’ requirement.
Don’t over think it too much.

Those sample courses were helpful. It does seem to me that I’ll need to alter my schedule, Honors Stage Craft should work fine, as stagecraft was mentioned on the sample courses for the “f” requirement. That being said I still plan to call Berkeley tomorrow and ask their admissions office about this.

Economics usually fulfills the g requirement which is a class most highschool students eventually take.

If you look up humanities, it always comes up as a g requirement, so I assume your school would be the same which means you’re good for the g requirement.

And if you look up stagecraft it comes up as an f requirement.
