@Orangered123 You should include it! It won’t count against you, and if you’re able to relate your degrees to your intended UCB major, it can convey passion for the subject. Good luck completing your essay!
@shayhello17 Thanks for the information and the support! Almost done with everything, just doing the final touches. Hoping that we all receive good news next month.
About to turn in my essay, did you folks use the “/” suggestion @ohm888 gave to break up paragraphs or did you folks try something else?
Copy and pasted my essay into the box. It doesn’t look like it “messes” up any formatting. Did anyone have any actual formatting problems when copy pasting into the given box?
@Orangered123 check Forms and click display for your Wait List Opt-in. The paragraphs you make are gone. The format is kept in the editing box but not in the “display”. I didn’t try / btw
When I wrote my appeal, I formatted it as an actual letter on a google doc and it made it all into a single paragraph when I got to see it after submitting it. I copied and pasted it in the text box and it looked like how I wrote it until I turned it in.
Once you submit the opt-in form, the paragraphs do combine into one big block of text. I used a / to provide the reader with a visual marker.
^^^ so did I. B-)
@shayhello17 does it actually make paragraph or it’s like a separator between words?
It’s just a visual that actually does help create the sense of a paragraph. Like they do with song lyrics and poems.
I just sent in my waitlist opt-in (10:29pm PDT to be exact) and it went through and I got an email confirmation and everything, but it says I submitted it May 16th. Does anyone else’s say this?
@blasbcptransfer I think MAP has a weird time system. Maybe it’s not based on PST, because last time I went to confirm my UC Application update on MAP. It said I updated it on 1st Feb (I actually updated it on the late night of 31st Jan.) So I think you will be fine
Hey everyone.
Glad to see a thread about this topic, hopefully by joining I and everyone here will be able to provide an example and comfort to future students in the same boat as us!
I don’t have much to say right now, but if I hear any more information I will definitely post back here!
Good luck to everyone
Actually just stumbled across some information.
I don’t know if this has been posted in this thread, but it seems as if the yield rate for UC Berkeley has an average of 65 percent for transfers (or something along those lines) (https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major), meaning there is room for us waitlisted students. However, anyone know about how many people are placed on the waitlist so we can gauge our chances?
Thanks once again, and sorry if this has been discussed previously.
@studentzunite I have thought like you thought 1 week ago, but if you really think about this…the yield rate is actually enroll/admit, so when they admit no matter from the original applicants list or waitlist or appeal the admit will be +1. So does enroll, so the yield rate really tells nothing but UCB has yield rate more than 50%. we still don’t know how many people get off waitlist
We’re done folks! Hopefully in less than a month Cal comes back with good news for all of us. This wait is going to be annoyingly long though.
Just reminder, I called admission office just now to confirm that we can still update our form until we can’t click on the update button.
finally done with this semester and i feel like i can wait for decisions peacefully! hopefully we all get in to UCB :((
I did my waitlist opt-in a few days ago. Did not see my essay collapsed. When I go back to the opt-in form now, it shows it in the exact same form as I entered. Where are you folks seeing it collapsed? I am not sure if I should add in a / as some of you did or not. Last thing I want is my essay showing as one big unreadable blob.
