UC Blue and Gold/School Grants?

I am quite confused with how the UC Blue and Gold Plan works with school grants. I was admitted into UC Davis and UCSD, both of which offered me a certain amount of school grant. The school grant from Davis is higher than that from UCSD, but it states nowhere on the online financial estimate that I qualify for the Blue and Gold Plan, whereas UCSD offers less school grant but states that I am eligible for the B&G Plan. How does this work? Is the school grant applied before the B&G, or is the B&G applied towards the tuition/fees before the school grants, in which case I can use the remainder of the school grants (after applying it to tuition/fees with B&G) to other costs such as transportation, rooming, food, etc.?

Also, since I am eligible for the B&G for one UC, do I qualify for all UCs or just the particular ones that state so?

Thank you for the help!

If you qualify for B&G, then you do at all UC schools.

B&G is NOT a grant. It’s just a promise that you’ll get at least your UC-wide fees covered with a variety of grants…about $14k

Your aid may not mention B&G at all.

So, the total amount of “free money” can vary per UC. One may just cover those fees, another may add in a merit scholarship, another might add in a larger UC grant.

UCD is ranked below UCSD, so maybe UCD is trying to lure you to their school with a better FA pkg?
