UC CC UC Transfer

Hi,

Does anyone know about the UC CC UC transfer process that can provide some insight? I am at a UC right now and due to financial and personal reasons, I want to switch to my local cc and take ges there and transfer back to my UC or a different one later on. I am in my first quarter right now and not sure if I will have a good GPA.

  • Will I have to be at cc for 2 years or can I finish earlier and transfer?
  • Is it possible to withdraw after first quarter or will I need to complete a year in order to receive the credits?
  • How will the credits transfer?
  • Does this process take longer than 4 years to graduate?
  • What are the chances of getting into another UC this way?
  • Has anyone done this successfully and can give me an overview of how it went?
  • Will this process affect my chances of getting into grad school?

As you can see, I’m very confused. Please help me out! I will contact my counselor as well but I’d like to hear some tips from people who went through this as well.

Thank you!

How fast you transfer depends on getting 60 arm/90 qtr units by end of final term. AP scores of 3+ add units.
You also must complete the major req for the major and possibly GE, depending on which path you choose.
You can withdraw after 1st quarter, which is probably the best way to go.
You will be seen as a CCC transfer.
Many people do this successfully!

Thanks for the reply.
Why is withdrawing after the 1st quarter the way to go? Will my 14 credits transfer with me or will it be useless?

They will transfer with you. If you’re definitely leaving there’s no point spending more on tuition, plus you can match the required courses better from a CCC.
