Big question: are you graduating from a California high school. Makes a huge difference in the admissions chances.

Oh I forget to mention that haha, yes I am. I live in Riverside California.

Bumpity bump bump bump

Is your total weighted gpa your UC gpa?

Berkeley - reach
UCLA - reach
UCSD - high match/match
Irvine/Santa Barbara/Santa Cruz/Davis - match/high safety
Riverside/Merced-safety

The needed GPA to assess chances is your UC GPA. Assuming it’s close to the 3.9, UCI, UCSB, UCSC and UCD are matches. UCR would be a safety.

UC’s don’t superscore your SAT. Do calculate your UC GPA, go to the UC Doorways website, find your school, and check to see which AP/Honors classes that you’ve taken are actually considered for honors/ap credit for UC’s. Calculate your new score by giving a point higher to only those classes. Your UC GPA is usually lower than your weighted GPA.

So, assuming that your GPA is at around 3.51 and your SAT is at around 1800 (lowering it because you superscored your SAT) and you’re a CA resident this is what I would say:

Definitely apply to UCSC, UCSB, UCI, and UCD.
If you can write a killer essay, apply to some of the other (UCSD, UCLA). I’ve seen people get in with stats like yours, however, I’ve seen many more get in with better. UC’s are a crapshoot. If you’re a resident and meet minimum UC requirements, you’ve got a chance.

follow ZooeyKing’s advice… UC’s (all except UCLA?) cap the GPA so you can have only 8 extra bonus points…

ucla and cal dont cap it
