So I have a 4.07 UC Weighted GPA, with a 31 on the ACT. My intended major is economics do I have a good shot at getting in I have above average EC’s but nothing special, Board Member at major hospital in So Cal. If I don’t get into UCSB, I’m considering UCSC,UCR,or San diego state(finance). Do you think it’d be smarter to choose SDSU over UCSC because it’s cheaper
I am an SDSU parent and I know SDSU has an excellent Business/Finance program. My younger son is a current student at SDSU and did choose SDSU over UCR for Computer Science. He believes he has made the right choice, although his decision was not based on affordability. If affordability is a major factor, SDSU is a good choice. I think “fit” is an important factor in making a college decision along with academics, social life, internship/job opportunities and of course finances so ultimately it will be up to you which schools meets all your criteria. Good Luck.
Do you think that I perhaps have a shot at UCSB,
If not do you have an idea of how UCSC,UCR,and SDSU stack in terms of internships and job opportunities. SInce I’m in state UC’s and Cal States are affordable(since my family makes around 200k) so I wouldn’t want to spend an additional 25k for no reason
You do have a good shot at all the schools on your list. It really comes down to “fit” based on academics, social scene, job opportunities/internships and affordability. I am only familar with UCR and SDSU when it comes to jobs and internships. Both have good alumni networks which help in getting these opportunities but I am sure all the schools will have similiar opportunities. I would check out the career centers on-line to see what is available. My son at SDSU has found his Frat brothers have been geat resource.
