for a decent chance
what do I have to score on my SAT which im going to take in October?

You live in California right? Your chances OOS are very, very low, barring the possibility that you score +2300 on your SAT.

Even so, your GPA is pretty low (my school operates on the 1-4 system, so I'm not sure how to translate, but it doesn't look great), so you'd need great SATs to balance it. At least a 2000, and a +2100 would definitely help you out there.

Do you have any reasons for low GPA? Also, is your GPA a UC GPA? I'll admit its a pretty big reach if you're OOS (I don't know of schools in CA that use the % GPA system), but if you do want to get in, then a 2250SAT1/750+SAT IIs would probably make it a better case. Still, with your low GPA and few ECs, nothing would necessarily guarantee you a shot at any top tier UCs.

Being out of state, let alone international makes it very difficult to get into a UC. You will need a very high SAT score in order to be considered.

I'd recommended signing up for the SAT in November now, because those are really the only 2 you can take for a UC (UC admission deadline is Nov. 30th), and since you've never taken a real SAT before and you never know what might happen, you should plan ahead.

I'm going to think again about taking the SAT. I really have no chance outside of UC, and the ones that I can get in are comparable to the ones here in Canada.

So, I was wondering if my chances of transfering into a UC in my second year of University after attending the First at a Canadian One will be possible?

UCLA would be a reach if you were in-state, big reach if you were OOS, and more or less impossible as an international. If you were to transfer, you'd have a better shot then than you do now, granted that you do very well in the college you first attend.

You'd need to transfer as a Junior if you wanted to transfer. Obviously you have a better chance at the lower UCs, maybe UCD or merced or something around there.

Hmm. It got me to thinking. I would assume it'd be easier to trasnfer (if I had good GPA in College) from a UC to another UC, than from a Canadian one to an UC.

so With EC that everyone has, and a subpar GPA,
(not taken SATs yet, deciding),
I hear without at least 2300 SAT I / 750+ SAT II, I really have 0 chance. (from above)

Is it worth it to attempt to apply into the lower UC's (if I have a decent shot and not too big of a reach),
such as UCSB, UCD, or UCI ?

I was thinking even the lower UC's are more recognized than anything in Canada.

"I'd recommended signing up for the SAT in November now, because those are really the only 2 you can take for a UC (UC admission deadline is Nov. 30th),"

Deadline for apps is 11/30 but if I'm not mistaken, you have until December or January to get in your scores.

USC has a lower average GPA than UCLA/UCB, but in terms of competitiveness to get in, it's something along the lines of UCSD. If you think you'll have trouble with UCSD, USC might even be a slight reach.

If you could come to a community college in California, that would be your best bet to get into either Berkeley or UCLA, although with hard work an intra-UC transfer isn't all that impossible.

^^ what? UCSD has a 90% acceptance rate for students in the top 4% of his/her class; it admits ~20,000 students each year; its average SAT score is a 1950; 80% of those with a 31-36 ACT score were admitted; about 80% of those with an SAT CR score of 700-800 were admitted; about 70% of those with an SAT M score of 700-800 were admitted; and about 80% of those with an SAT W score of 700-800 were admitted.
