chances to:

USC
UCLA
UCB
UCSB
UCD
Georgetown
UMD-CP

Better hope the SATs are 2200+, otherwise I would kiss your chances @ UCB, UCLA, and G'toen goodbye...UCSB seems like the most likely result...

^ agreed. Possibly the same for USC as UCLA, etc.

Guys, that gpa is not including the weight from his 13 AP/Honors. With that being said, your UC gpa should be well over 4.0 though it will depend when you took them and how many other a-g classes you took that semester. UCs will mostly ignore Fresh/Sr year though an upward trend is always good. Do similarily on your SATs and you should have a great shot at all the UCs

Are you still a junior? I've been hearing again and again of a kind of merit award for doing well on both the PSAT and SAT. I'm not sure exactly how it works; I took the ACT. It seems that most who earn this merit value it enough mention it in their app. Your ECs and service look good but the only flaw I see is that you don't really have any leadership. Maybe try to fit some in this year?
good luck

i think you have a really good chance at all the UC's because they don't really care about the freshmen year, UCLA might be a little bit tougher for you though. i think you have a good chance at USC too. I don't know about Georgetown though...

Don't worry about the crappy freshman year. The UC's ignore it, and the privates will definitely consider the upward trend. Your chances heavily depend on your SAT scores though; your GPA puts you in the running for all of those schools. Good luck.

We can't say anything without the SAT.

Oh, and the freshman year doesn't count, so his chances are still well within the ballpark everyone.

Thanks guys!

bittersweetie33:

UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach (out of state)
UCD/UCSB: Safe Match (out of state)

How about USC because I would really love to go there.

You are probably a match to slight reach at USC. Depends upon the SAT scores--which you haven't taken yet.

I think UCB might be a reach, even with the upward trend, simply 'cause you're OOS, which makes admission much harder.

Good one vc89, I'm sure "bitter sweetie" with 2 years of varsity pom falls under the "his" category

yeah thats right im a girl
