UC Davis 2012 Regents Scholarships

It’s merit based but regents will cover any needs you have. For example, Davis regents is awarding me 9.3k to fit my efx

ndude, have you checked your portal? That’s where I found out that I got it.

Congrats to all recent Regents’ scholars and potential Aggies! :)

diana3: Yeah, I checked it and see nothing regarding the scholarship. All I see is the congratulations, you are accepted. I think I’m going to call their office this week.

lol, ndude154 , why are you expecting to receive regents?

I’m ELC, got regents from UCSB, 4.00 UW, 4.40 W, 33 ACT, 800 Math II, Great Essays, and Great extracurriculars. Does anyone think I shouldn’t receive regents from UCD?

Dude, If it matters to pump your ego up, why not, I’ll say it, You richly Deserve it.

It only matters what the Admissions folks at a particular school thinks. You have Regents from UCSB, so take it and I am sure you will do well.

Best Wishes!!

In the end, I don’t think it matters at all that you didn’t get the scholarship, unless you were planning to attend Davis. Because Davis gives out more money than SB, UCD presumably does give out fewer scholarships than UCSB.

Anyone can answer my question? Thanks in Advance
If my needs is $35000.00, I do not need to pay any fee based on my needs
Why it is necessary I receive Regent?

@WantBrownPLME You need to start with EFC not so much your need. If your EFC doesn’t meet the total cost of education at the school then comes the need part. $7,500 comes as a part of Regents Scholar at UCD.

You will get FA equal to [Total cost of education - Regents Scholar - EFC]. If it is a -ve number then you don’t get FA.

@WantBrownPLME - I assume you mean your tuition and fees will be covered by Cal Grant/Blue and Gold? You still need to come up with money or borrow for your room and board, books, etc. The Pell Grant will help, but $7500 will help a lot more! Also, don’t discount the very valuable ‘priority registration’.

Thank you all
Does anyone know Davis offer $5000 scholarship, what is the name of that scholarship?

tugtraveller
Which IVY already mailed out the likely letter? Thanks to let me know

Just to finish this topic:

I called their scholarship office to inquire.
I learned that it is a pure numbers game. My GPA was .02 away from qualifying for the scholarship.

What GPA & SAT scores were needed to get the regents scholarship? Info may be useful to future applicants.

He said around a 4.3 GPA and 750 on each SAT section.

Really? Well I didn’t get a 750 on each section, more like 710ish, and I got the scholarship. Hmm.

My daughter got Reagents from UCD. Her GPA is 4.5, SAT 2320 (750, 800, 770). She got accepted into UCLA and UCSD, but no scholarship. No info from UCB yet. Any chance get accepted into UCB, how about scholarship from UCB?

@Ptom65 This is a crapshoot and one never knows what is in store for our kids. UCD came with a Regents Scholarship but just admission from UCLA and UCSD. The UCD Regents was a pleasant surprise and Lord knows what else is in store for her.

Best Wishes to your D!!!

@Ptom65 @cahsparent

You guys almost seem to be upset that your children didn’t get any scholarship from UCLA or UCSD when they got Regents from Davis. I got UCD Regents and I was waitlisted from LA…
