@ccstudent1517 I agree! Good luck to you as well
@ccstudent1517 A lot of my very qualified friends have gotten rejected from SDSU - it’s a hard school to get into because it’s highly impacted! They give priority to in-area cc transfers and those with AA-T degrees (and I feel like they lowkey give priority to international students as well, although it’s not talked about). Don’t give the rejection a second thought.
@commmajor120 I think you’ll get into Davis! I’m a comm major too, and they accepted my TAG even though I had (and still have) a few prerequisites missing. My GPA was 3.63 at the time if you’re curious (which is pretty close to yours).
Thank you for your kind words. I will continue to look forward to hearing back from the other schools I applied for.
Yes, they do give priority to local students/AA-T degree students. Unfortunately for my major, they do not honor the AA-T agreement for community colleges (looking at GPA 0.1 higher). I’m also not local so my chances were slim. It was worth a shot though and I’m glad I applied.
I heard on another thread that for impacted CalStates like SDSU, they accept all of the local community college students that qualify. Afterwards, they do an admissions lottery where they randomly choose applicants for consideration with whatever space they have left. For those that aren’t chosen in this lottery, it’s an automatic rejection.
Good luck to you and your friends! I hope you all get into the other schools you applied for!
Oh wow, really? I didn’t know it was that bad. Glad you were informed and are keeping your head up. Best of luck to you as well! Your stats are really good and I’m sure you’ll get into Davis @ccstudent1517
Hey guys, I’m super nervous about these decisions. Can someone chance me? Sorry I’m posting this everywhere.
GPA: 3.64
Tag: UCSB
Major: Sociology
Pre-reqs: Will have 4/5 done by end of spring
IGETC: Completed
EC: Ehh, decent
@ccstudent1517 Really? That sounds terrible. I hope CP SLO doesn’t do it like that. Good luck on hearing back! Your stats look pretty good!
@TheLongRun It is pretty bad. It’s basically more luck than skill to get accepted into impacted CalStates. This year SDSU had something crazy like 87,000 applicants and only 8,000 spots. Getting accepted w/o a 4.0 overall GPA and not being a local would be like winning the lottery, haha.
I heard today that quite a few people got into SLO so I don’t think the situation is as bad there.
Thank you and best of luck to you as well. Hoping that everyone gets good news soon!
@ccstudent1517 CP SLO was a 9.30% acceptance rate according to the numbers on this rejection letter’s message. SDSU was a 9.20% rejection rate according to your numbers. I’m still waiting (no determination), since I just copied and pasted below. No rejection, acceptance, or being waitlisted. It’s like limbo, haha.
“Cal Poly received nearly 57,000 applications for the fall 2017 quarter for approximately 5,300 available student openings. To be as fair as possible to all applicants, we utilize an objective admission selection process developed by our faculty. We compare transfer applicants to other transfer applicants who have applied to the same major. We consider your program of study in college, your academic performance in classes, your work experience and extra-curricular activities.”
@TheLongRun Whoops, sorry for the mess up on numbers. It’s actually 83,000 to 8,250 so it’s around a 9.93% chance of acceptance which is still dismal. Here is the exact message:
"Thank you for applying to San Diego State University. After carefully reviewing your application, we are unable to offer you admission for the fall 2017 semester. Admission to SDSU is highly competitive and this year we received over 83,000 applications for 8,250 undergraduate enrollment spaces.
You are encouraged to apply for admission to San Diego State University for a future term. You must meet the admission requirements for transfer students at the time you apply. Admission information can be found at www.sdsu.edu/admissions.
SDSU has an appeals process for serious and extenuating circumstances to be reconsidered for admission. Generally, those appeals granted are very limited in number. For specific instructions on submitting an appeal, please visit www.sdsu.edu/appeals.
We wish you success as you pursue your academic and professional goals."
I am sending you good thoughts. Not knowing is the worst part. Hope you’ll hear back soon!
Thank you so much for the information! That has really helped! Did they accept your TAG for Fall 2017? @doihaveashot2016
They did! I received a message on the UC TAP site in fall. I’m excited, but it won’t feel real until official acceptance comes through lol. @commmajor120
Sorry to hear it. Still, congratulations on all your achievements, and nothing any university says or does can change all the hard work you put in. I wish you the best of luck going forward @ccstudent1517

When do they notify rejection ?
@zsshar I was wondering the same thing. do they come before the acceptances? when do the acceptances even come out? end of April?
Just recieved an email asking if I took courses at a local community college (which was an online class I took during high school I completely forgot about). Uploaded my unofficial transcript to them.
@Iwcwombat interesting. So did they run your name through the national student clearinghouse? How did they know?
Has anyones status changed? Mine still says “Pending Review” I think its like that forever.
@ Zygole, nope… mine is the same and no email of acceptance or rejection yet… anyone know when the acceptances come out??
