Uc davis 2018 transfer appeals thread

Looking for my peeps who got rejected by Davis and are planning to appeal!

Anyone? Are you guys planning on sending rec letters too?

Appealed, don’t have my hopes high. Weird thing is, I finished all the prep course, and selected an alt major, which Is not an impacted major, my gpa is definitely within the range. However, on UCD portal, it only showed my 1st choice major, so is there’s a possibility that they just only admit based on 1st choice major?

@siarota Gee I don’t even remember applying for an alt major. I also applied to an unimpacted major although my gpa is pretty low (2.79) I had an upward grade trend though and plan on mentioning being on the Dean’s List in my appeal sonce I didn’t on my application.

Applied for animal science with a 3.0 and graduating this semester with honors. Definitely appealing with 3 letters of rec, all from Deans and the president of my community college.

Yeah I got rejected for my main major (Computer Science). I don’t know why I applied for it because my GPA was not in the range for it but too late now I suppose. I also remember applying for an alternative major which my GPA range was in but it looks like they didn’t look into that. I’m going to appeal for my alternative major and see what happens because it doesn’t hurt trying, but not hoping on it.
As for rec letters, I might ask my CS professor from last quarter but I am focusing more on the appeal statement.

@carolinelove15 Did you appeal already? I want to appeal, but solely because my major is unimpacted (linguistics) and I know someone who got into an unimpacted major (food science) with the same low gpa as me (2.79 at time of application).

So far I only updated my grades off their application update link. If they actually look at the update, they’ll see that after winter I have a 2.87 gpa. It’s still not the best by any means, but I’m very suspicious that they straight up rejected me and didn’t even consider waitlisting me because I had a “2.79” and not “2.8 to be competitive for selection at Davis”. IM CLOSE DUDE!! I’m hoping to hear some positive feedback from them in 7-10 days over my grade update but I won’t be too hopeful. If I don’t hear back after 10 days I’m going to formally appeal with rec letters and all that.

I’m definitely going to appeal, and I’ve already asked three teachers for letters of rec. One for psychology, one for film and the other for communications. Might ask my president too since I got honors twice at my school and work for the school writing center. I also updated my grades, I think an issue was that I was going to attend San Jose City but didn’t get any of the classes but it shows I was enrolled in them, which would mean I was taking 8 classes at once instead of just 5. Do you get to choose a major to appeal to?

@coolskeleton95 yes I appealed already. I also updated my grades as I have a 4.0 this semester. Interestingly, I was also awarded a scholarship for Davis the week prior to the day I got rejected… I really hope they look through everyone’s appeals, it’s so important to us

@carolinelove15
Hey,
This semester isnt even over yet, so how can you already update your grades? Im confused o.o

@BubzBB No problem, I was too when they asked me to do it…Until on the appeals page (in your myadmissions account) they ask you to “state current Spring 2018 grades, the class, ID number, etc. in additional information box” and upload a file of your current grade(s) as supplemental information. (You just upload a print out of your current grades with you LORs/etc. on the uploads page within the appeal).

@carolinelove15
Oh but, what I meant was, the professors havnt released official grades to the academic system. Then how can we just assume what we will get in that class. The thing is, my college doesnt end until may 21.

@BubzBB They don’t want the official grades yet, they just want to know what you have so far this semester. If you appeal, it’s the “first step” before the second step of giving them a “statement” followed by the third and final step of uploading supporting documentation.

Just submitted my appeal! Hope to hear back before June 1st. Btw, did anybody have issues with their coursework? For example, I was supposed to take a course during the spring but ended up taking it during the winter. On my UC app, I remember deleting it. But on Davis’s coursework it was still there. Updated it to “NE”. Wonder if this was a issue

@coolskeleton95 did you ever hear back about your schedule/grade change? I updated mine and included some summer courses I’m going to take but have not heard back

Does anyone know when we can expect to hear back? I submitted mine yesterday due to some system problems. I’m hoping before the 1st; but I don’t want to get my hopes up considering how long it took for them to look at the initial application. Also we have to think about waitlisted kids or those who don’t want to attend.

@thanks123 looking at old threads, it’s usually the first week of June. Hopefully sooner though

Any updates you guys? I was looking at Twitter and everyone on there who submitted an appeal seemed to have it accepted. Don’t know if they were transfers or freshman. I have some high hopes for this especially considering I know at least 5 people who were accepted as transfers and are not attending.

Also will they email us or should we continue to check on our own? I usually check anyway.

People are starting to get off the waitlist, so I think appeals should be close. Good luck everyone!

When you guys appealed, what were the information that you gave to them that you think made them reconsider?
